Guest guest
I had a c-section prior to WLS and one post WLS (10/24/02) and the recovery was the same with both. Probably actually better AFTER WLS because I didn't have alot of excess flabby belly hanging down where nasty germs could grow! You'll be fine..... WLS or not, gas is most often a problem for everyone. Best advice to get relief from the gas is move, move, move, walk, walk, walk! Guest guest
also since I had open RNY, that incision wasn't affected at all by my low transverse (bikini cut) incision with c-section! Sheila (again)
Guest guest
I also have a c-section both prior to and after WLS. Like Sheila, my recovery was the same with both. I have to also agree that my recovery with my post WLS c-section was probablt better because of the lack of yucky belly hanging down. I have to agree after having 2 c-sections and 2 abdominal surgeries walking is the best for your recovery. Guest guest
You would think now days that all hospitals would give women the choice of having a VBAC, although I'm a repeater myself. I've had 2 c-section pre-WLS and will be having my 3rd at the end of May. Without figuring in WLS, I found my 2nd c-section to be much easier than the first. I think it was because all the nerves they cut through down there don't regenerate so the pain wasn't as bad for me. Also knowing what to expect helped too. I'm hoping that this one will be easier with less weight and less nerves, LOL! I can't imagine WLS affecting a repeat c-section except in a positive way-- less weight, less complications, quicker recovery, etc. My best advice is to get up and walk as soon as you can force yourself. I made them take the catheder out so I could start walking laps at the hospital. They say it really helps with the recovery and from my experience I really think it is true. Good luck, you'll do just fine! Sue Lap RNY 6/5/02 EDD 6/11/04 > Well, I'm 6 weeks away from delivery and the panic is setting in! Guest guest
Hi rio, I don't know that I am alot of help, definatly not the expert, but I can share my experience with you. I have one dd pre-WLS and have a ds post-WLS both were c-sections and with my first c-section I got an infection and had a terrible time recovering. But it is so true what they say about forgetting the pain. Then with my ds I had a planned c-section unlike the emergency one the first time around. I was much more relaxed and prepared to deal with the process. I had a little nausea in recovery, I remember it lasting about 2 hours and then I felt fine. I wasn't allowed to get up right away even though I asked to..(Because you know that moving helps with the Gas). Ok to keep this from being an enternal email in short the second time was a breeze and I never felt the first pain from the incision. I didn't have any infection nor did I have to take any pain meds after the second day. And the bonus to the c-section was that my OB trimmed about 3-4inches of skin off before closing the incision. YEAH!! Hope this helps in some way. Christy in VA
