Guest guest
I have to say that it is a PIA not to be able to use footed sleepers. However, we have been able to find several brands of PJs that snap without feet. My favorite is s' brand. Another alternative is a long sleeved onsie and soft coveralls, we do use this alot instead of PJs. I know that the first 3 months can be a major pain, but really, it's only 3 months. After that you can dress your cuties in whatever you want during the day and snappy pjs at night. Personally, I don't change Kaitlins diapers frequently at night so PJ's without snaps would probably work too (if finding snapless, footless PJs was a problem). Just pull them down to her ankles during the change. One more thing. When Kaitlin does wear pants and stuff, I never end up taking them off during diaper changes anyways, just pulling them down. I really agree with ee that a mountain is being made from a molehill. As for the useless shoes and such....donate them. We too were given endless pairs of unusable shoes and footed clothes. Given is the key word, so pass them on or stick em on Ebay if you can't take them back. Graciously tell people your dilemma before Christmas to avoid receiving any more of the items. Guest guest
I realize we all have different standards of fashion, but cutting the feet out of a sleeper is really not that big of a deal here. I use the blanket-sleepers, those fuzzy kind that come in 3-packs from Wal-Mart, that zip from one foot up to the neck - I just snip out the feet portion and go with it. That type of fabric doesn't even need to be hemmed, although you could if you just wanted to. Some say slipping it off the arms instead of the feet to change a diaper makes the baby cold, but in my opinion, either way you are exposing half a baby body (either the feet half or the arm half) - so I just slip it off his arms and change the diaper, put it back on and go. If it's that darn cold he has a t-shirt on under it anyway, so his top half is still coverd by that as I strip the snuggly off. That's more than a baby's legs would have if you removed it from their feet like usual. For a day of running around in the house, these things are ideal - warm, comfy, easy..... and that's my goal - keep him warm and comfy while he plays. They're not ugly, either, jsut snuggly. I don't mean to be a hard @$$, but dressing a baby isn't rocket science, DBB or not. Everett wears a lot of cute stuff when we go out. But other wise, I aim at his comfort and a baby needs soft stretchy comfort. Pants almost never need snaps, they can slip down far enough to manuver a diaper through. But most baby pants do have snaps, so it's a non issue. I hate snaps, they're a pain in the butt to re-snap. I'm sorry, I know I'm coming off badly here but by the same token I think you're about to make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to dressing your baby. s. clothes crisis! Oh it's great to be able to gripe about this!!! We knew our little lamb was a " ram " so I had a grand time getting some of the most adorable outfits for him. This is a very late baby - my oldest (26) is going to give birth to our first grandchild in 2 or 3 weeks- so I was able to indulge myself and buy some really special treats....not knowing that the BAR loomed in my future. Have just gone through his lovely wardrobe and beautiful baby gifts, sorting out all the footed sleepers and playsets (Ralph etc), and reluctantly deciding either to chop the feet - I can't-or hope for a grandson.Gymboree and GAP have some cute one piece snappers and we dress him up with adorable sweaters and cute hats etc, This is the first baby we've ever been given shoes for...I have six pair of desgner baby shoes waiting for the grandchild!! People don't think re: gifts and he has even this week been gifted with another expensive and useless pair of non-snap designer jeans with matching top. Suggestion:I went on e-bay to see if I could get anything much for these clothes and found all kinds of wonderful stuff CHEAP! Take a look and search for " one piece, snaps, boutique girls size 9 months " and search items and descriptions. You'll be sure to find stuff. Consignment shops would have cute quality clothes for wal-mart prices. Maybe we need a clothing exchange! Our little guy's feet are very different sizes and I'm afraid we'll need to buy double shoes for his differing feet! I would never complain to anyone else as I am always positive about this very special child...but I do empathise with the wardrobe grief!!!
