Ken - I can only imagine how difficult the job search market is - and

you are in my thoughts!!! I am glad to hear that things are going

well for in most areas!! I thought it was interesting your

note about the " need to fuel his growth " in reference to the G-tube.

saw her GI doctor yesterday, and he said exactly the same

words -- that our decision to use GH is the right one but that

is unable to " fuel her growth " -- and we have to investigate

why and what options we might be willing to take....

I will tell you (and everyone) that the top notch endocrinologists in

the country who are working on SGA children and growth hormone

therapy (the ones all affiliated with the international committee,

etc), that so many appear to NOT interested in weight gain. What I

mean by that is that it seems clear that they do not believe that

weight gain is a priority as much as height gain.

I do think that part of this is because many of the patients they see

(I am guessing here) may not have weight issues. Whereas almost all

of our kids do!!! But I do think it slightly ironic. If our kids

already struggle to gain weight at a normal rate, and now suddenly

you are growing their height at 50-100% FASTER, now their weight has

to grow even MORE -- how do we do it!!! Add to that the 4-5 year old

or older child is suddenly even more active with school -- more

recesses, sports, after school activities - and the need for calories

even greater....

also has not gained any weight, although she is 48 pounds

now (she was 27 pounds at 4yrs 9 months and 30 pounds when she was 5

and a couple months). The problem for us is that her height has

continued to grow and she is above 49 inches tall, so her weight for

height SUCKS!!!

I will tell you that this is my " poor me " day. I keep wanting this

to " get better. " I keep thinking " oh, in another year it will be

more normal.... " and yes, it is definitely better now that she is on

GH and older, and not getting sick, and teased, and all that. But....

Hi ,

Since I have been out of work I have several job offers. However I

have turned them down. I am not interested in mowing my

neighbors lawn, cleaning his house or doing his laundry.

I am try to figure how unemployed means cheap household

help. Hey, if they want to help, they can come and mow my lawn.

Then I won't have to spend money on gas.

Anyway, I'll keep looking.
