I have a son with bilateral clubfeet. We've been in the straight

last shoes since November 19th and everything has gone pretty

well...until now. On Wednesday night, the night before we're

supposed to leave to go to my parents for 2 weeks, he develops the

beginnings of a pressure sore. My husband brought him to me for a

bath and I see this red circle on his foot and basically lost it. My

ortho dr said to leave his shoes off for a day or so to let it heal

so that it didn't go any further. I left them off from Wednesday

night until Friday morning. On Friday morning it looked better so I

put his shoes on with duoderm on the pressure sore. All day Friday

it looked good, but Saturday afternoon came around and it started to

look bad again so I took the shoes off again. Two hours later he was

smiling in his bouncy seat and suddenly he started to cry. The

crying turned into screaming and he was unconsoleable. Needless to

say, I was freaking out. I took his socks off and from the knees

down on both legs, he was extremely red to his toes and they were

very, very hot. Now I'm panicking. I called the ortho on call (not a

Ponseti dr) and he thought that was unusual. He finally calmed down

because I nursed him and the legs went back to normal. When I was

looking at his legs last night after this all happened I noticed

something strange. There were 4-5 red blood-like freckles on the

lower part of one leg and 2 on the other leg. They almost looked

like broken blood vessels. Has anyone had anything like this happen?

The shoes had been off for 2 hours so it wasn't that...at least I

don't think it was.

Please help me understand this. I'm away from home and I'm very

stressed about it. Plus, my son has not been in his shoes very much

in the last 3 days and that is driving me crazy. It's amazing how

much you get used to the security of the shoes!!!
