He was caught in LOTS of contraversy before this happened -- and it's really very MURKY trying to sort out JUST what the issues were /are -- it seems most of the malpractice claims were filed by folks who feel they had surgery when none was needed - and they found no improvments . That said he was also doing more assertive and expermental surgery than many other neurosurgeons . I'm sorry that you ran into his name as a member recomended physician -- he DID help some with chiari /sm who participate in wacma -- but this legal action against him is recent and it seems the members sugested list hasn't been updated yet . There is one neurosurgeon at Duke some members have found good - I hope they will consider contacting you . I'd sugest going up to NY to Dr Milhorat /Bolognese for consultation since your on the eastern seaboard if you can travel out of state on your insurance -- they wait is long but chiari is rarely an emergency -and your doctor can notify them in NY asking you be put on a cancelation list if there is any urgency too.
