Guest guest
That must have been so great. I would love to meet someone who I could chat with face to face. Not that you all aren't there for me but wow. I am so sick - eventhough this has been stated before- - of all the people coming up to me and saying -- - my so and so wore those shoes. I had a woman stop me in the mall to tell me that her, her mother and her daughter were pigeon-toed. And it was great to see me taking my child out to have him photographed in his brace. But she says " if he only needs it while he is sleeping why do you have him in it for his pictures " . I smiled politely until that statement and I very matter of factly said " he was born with clubfeet, this is a small part of his treatment and he wears the shoes and bar 24 hours aday. Thanks for sharing your story, but we have to go. " and Again, the whole time wishing for that bird to come and eat her..... But later that night while we were at the picture people a little boy noticed the bar and he, his 2 brothers, mother and father all sat wide eyed while I explained how was born with " crooked feet " , showed them the picture from his birth and explained the processed and the youngest boy who was about 12 looked at me with adoring eyes and said, " wow, he is lucky that you did it this way huh? " and his brother who was about 14 or so said, " Man, I never want to have surgery. " They totally made my night..... dm Gerace cgerace@...> wrote: Yesterday, I took and Christian to New York City to see the Radio City Christmas show, tree etc. and when we were waiting to be seated we met a little boy who was still in his casts. Guest guest
I too would love to meet someone who has a child or had a club foot. Everybody stares it would be nice for someone to come up and say 'oh, your baby has a club foot, so does mine' blah blah blah. Anyway I'm sure I will bump into someone - or maybe I look too scary! Guest guest
It is neat how we all gravitate together! I have met a couple of other people with CF kids and when you talk, it's like you have an instant connection! & Grace > Yesterday, I took and Christian to New York City to see the Radio > City Christmas show, tree etc. and when we were waiting to be seated we met > a little boy who was still in his casts. Guest guest
That's funny you mention that about the pictures being taken. We had the girls Christmas pictures done and then I had Ava done for her 6mnths photo. The photographer kept trying to get her " adjusted " and becoming annoyed, because she said her shoes were showing in the picture. My dh said, " who cares there just her shoes " . I told her we wanted them in the picture they are a big part of her at this age why hide them they are nothing to be ashamed of and if they were pretty shoes she wouldn't be trying to hide them! She didn't say a word and just took the picture, maybe I was being to harsh but you know somedays you can only handle so much. We had an appt. but still had to wait 2 hours til our sitting. Guest guest
We had Kelsey's one year picture taken in her post-tenotomy big pink cast. It shows up in most of the pictures but I agree that it is part of who she was at that time and we now have it documented. Our photographer was better though. She wanted to show the cast because she thought it was cute. Jenni fabegirls wrote: >That's funny you mention that about the pictures being taken. Guest guest
That is really awesome! I have'nt run into any other cf babies out and about. Only in the doctors office. On another note, how was the Christmas Spectacular this year!! I was in NYC last weekend also to see the tree, windows, etc. The line for Toys R Us was 4 blocks long!!!!!!! I didn't have my kids with me, but I still wanted to go in. There was no chance I was going to wait 3 hours just to get in a store. I heard it was pretty amazing though. I did see the Producers. That was fabulous!!! And definately not for kids. Shook Retail Operations Manager/Baking Instructor Vie de France Yamazaki, Inc. 2070 Chain Bridge Rd. Guest guest
Hi , The show was very good. They made some slight changes to last year's program but nothing crazy. There was no intermission and the whole shoe seemed a lot shorter! Anyway, we did make it over to the Toys R Us and there is a 25 foot Dinosaur in the Jurassic Park section that was infatuated with! He wouldn't move for about 10 minutes. There wasn't a line to get into the store but the line to get on the Ferris wheel in the store was nuts! Have you gone into " The American Girl " store? Oh My Goodness! is still young for them but how adorable! If I had a little girl I would be broke because of that store. Guest guest
You know I saw that store but didn't know what it was all about, so I didn't go in. I'm glad because I am already broke! That's weird about the X-mas show. My sisters saw it last week and there was an intermission. Maybe they change it from day to night. Guest guest
I thought that it was a little weird with no intermission also. Next time you are in the city, and you have the opportunity, check the store out! There is a café with special high chairs for the dolls, a doll salon, a theatre, etc… its definitely something to see! It made me want to buy one for myself! Of course, at $100.00 each I walked out empty handed…LOL Mommy to (12-17-98) and Christian (1-30-04) LCF - DBB 23/7 _____ From: susan.shook@...
