Guest guest
I'm finally able to take a few minutes to post since we got back from the symposium. It was great to put some faces to names. There were about 15 families there. I didn't sit in on any of the speakers this year because I didn't want to leave Tony with all three kids. Dr. Buchanan, I think he is an administrator at the hospital, has been working with Charity and met with all the parents on Saturday. He would like all of us to think about contacts we may have to get media attention for the Ponseti method. Even if it is local media. The national media frequently pick up local stories. He would like to see 60 minutes do a story because it is an hour long program on one topic, but we will take whatever we can get. Charity did a great job presenting the quilt to Dr. Ponseti. It is beautiful. We have been assured that they will find a place to hang it. As already mentioned we all headed over to the rec center and had the first annual Ponseti Clubfoot Kids Race. Alaya ran all the way around the track when we first got there then wouldn't run the race. Oh Well. On a personal note Dr. Ponseti reduced the angle of her shoes and said she needs to wear them for another 3 months then he will consider removing them. He wants to see her back at that time. Tony is excited because he wants to go Ice Fishing while we are there. Sounds like FUN to me... Can you hear the sarcasm in my voice. I was glad that 's episode of what not to wear was on while we were there. We don't have TLC at home Bridget and I watched it together. BTW , you didn't sound like a hick to me. We had a great time. We are already looking forward to next year. I think it would be great if we can somehow find former patients of Dr. Ponseti's and have a reunion. Tony suggested that these are the people we need to get for donations as well. I was also thinking it would be great to get celebrities who had CF involved in the effort for national attention. I know I've seen pictures of Kristi and Mia in the bar, but I don't know if they were treated with the Ponseti method. Kristi Yamaguchi, Troy Aikman, Mia Hamm. OK now I'm dreaming. Enough rambling.
