Guest guest
I wrote to Hall to ask what to do about a wider bar once the 'large' bar has been outgrown. Here is some of her response: " For children who out grow the foot abduction orthosis' red bar, we add another bar between the two halves and clamp them together. This should suffice to get Owen through until he is done growing. We have not requested that Fillauer make a longer bar, because it makes it more difficult for fitting small children at the start of treatment. In fact, many babies' shoulder widths are narrower than the 9 " , which forces orthotists to bend the bar to make it narrower. Let me know when you get to the point where you can no longer keep the bar together and match Owen's shoulder width. At that time, I can give you instructions how to lengthen the bar. " I have written back to her to get more info in anticipation of Owen's next growth spurt!
