Some appliances can be adjusted at home, but others need the

orthodontist to do it. My kids have used both sorts over the years.

turn the screw. I would have been mad, too, if I had to take her in

for them to turn it. They just gave me the tool (they had to modify

it because her mouth was sooo small), taught me how to use it at the

doctor's office, then we went in once a month to check on the

progress.
