Guest guest
Sorry Deb. I think we need to mention a couple of other things. For the group - Her testing also revealed High Lactic Acid in the blood and this test was done without the tourniquet (correct Deb?). Deb has gone deaf and is also almost blind. She has lost the ability to see color. Alice I have all the symptoms of MELAS, even Dr Cohen said so, but no diagnosis. I stopped all my supplements about a month ago in hopes of some DNA testing etc. I also have been on oral Provera the first 10 days of each month for almost a year to control/stop hemorrhaging and last month my gyn said to start taking them every other month. Last Thursday I suddenly could not walk, just shuffled my feet, fell a couple of times and decided to see the doctor. Nothing really was different and no stroke but the thought of transverse myelitis and MS was discussed. Lab work done on Sunday showed low calcium, low blood protein but high in my urine, sodium and potassium were both in normal range, glucose 70's(usually 80-90). I had some improvement by yesterday but today is not better and it hit me that I have also not had the Provera...just wondering if stopped that too may have had an effect on general condition. Guest guest
Debra For some of us, we have to start and stop meds very slowly. Your doctor might want to think about reducing the dosage during that month off. They say that things like this aren't related, but most of us know how strange our bodies are. I hope you feel better soon. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 20 Oct 2004 10:04:24 -0600 > To: > > Subject: symptoms and hormones > > I have all the symptoms of MELAS, even Dr Cohen said so, but no diagnosis.
