Guest guest
First thing to avoid doing is stressing out. The baby will take what it needs from you. Babies are parasites and you will be more likely to have problems than the baby. If you were still losing weight, you are going to have to change your mindset. You will need to put having a healthy baby ahead of wanting to lose more. You may still lose but that cannot be your first priority. Second, try to eat healthy. Add a few more complex carbs to your diet but still concentrate on protein. Make sure you eat fruits and vegetables. You may have to eat every 90 minutes to avoid low blood sugar. It doesn't have to be a lot -- a cup of milk will work. Third, try to sip water or some other non-calorie beverage constantly. You need to stay hydrated which becomes a bit tougher while pregnant. Fourth, make sure you are taking your vitamins religously. Rasley mailto: drasley@... Guest guest
, I was 18 months out when I got pregnant and getting in only about 600 calories per day. You will be suprised at how much you will be able to eat in a few weeks!! LOL! I am up to 2000 calories per day and am at 28 weeks! After adding in prenatals, additional folic acid, etc., I had to re- teach myself how to eat, especially to get around the constant morning sickness I went through for nearly four months. I had to make myself eat something every two hours, even if it was just a slice of toast with a bit of peanut butter on it. Sometimes, I couldn't eat the whole slice, and would come back to it after about an hour. IT sure helped to keep nausea/vomiting at bay. Find things that go easy into your stomach to eat... even if it is higher in carbs than what you are used to eating. You do need complex carbs to help that baby grow, so bread, pasta, etc. is no longer a " no-no " ... just try to eat healthy!! I stay as close to the " What to Eat when You are Expecting " diet, with the change of a bit lower in carbs and higher in protein. I've been able to stay right on weight-gain targets with ease, too. It is kinda scarey to start gaining weight again, but remind yourself that it is the baby, not you, that needs that weight... and you DO need to eat and drink a lot more... but it can be something you work up into, instead of trying to go from 600 calories per day to 2000 in one day!! It took me nearly three months to get up to 2000 calories!! Rest your mind, eat healthy, take your vitamins, go to your doc, and things will work out great!!
