Hi and welcome.

I'm sorry you have been having trouble. You've come to a good place

for help!

Was your son doing fine with the DBB before, when he was wearing it

for more hours?

Has the length of the bar ever been adjusted? If it's been the same

since he was first fitted for it, he could have outgrown the width..

which makes the babies very uncomfortable. The heels need to be

shoulder width apart. Often when we hear of babies who had been doing

fine with the bar all of a sudden not accepting it, that is the

reason, and once the bar is lengthened a bit, they are fine again.

Do his feet still look well corrected? If they have relapsed at all,

that, too, could be the problem and you'd need to have more casting

to get back on track.

Don't feel bad.. you are doing your best. But I encourage you to

stick with it.. Don't give in to the temptation to leave it off. That

will only lead to relapse, more discomfort, more problems, a need for

recasting, etc.

Good luck and best wishes,

and Claire

Hi-

My son has been in the DBB since 9 weeks of age and we never had a

problem....UNTIL NOW! He is 2 yrs and 7 months. He has gotten out of it the

last 3 nights in a row and I'm about to pull my hair out. It has been such

smooth sailing until this point and I have no idea what happened. He isn't

strong willed so this really surprises me. I'm calling my doc today to see

what he says.

I am having issues also...and I am glad to read these posts because I was going

to write my own today. is 9 months old and was in the DBB for 3 months

23/7 with no problem. He just had his hours reduced to 16 hours a day and is

loving the freedom he is having. BUT.... when I put his shoes back on at night

he screams... falls asleep... screams... falls asleep... and continues this

pattern all night long. It has been going on since we reduced his hours. Is he

just getting mad at having them back on? I am so confused. He is also pulling

his right foot out constantly.. no matter how tight I make them strap, he

figures out how to pull out that foot. HELP!

We also had some trouble after Jonah was released from full-time wear. After

checking the fit of the bar, we looked at other things. I've noticed with both

of my children that they become wakeful at night during big deveopmental

advances(learning to crawl, learning to walk, increasing vocabulary). I also

noticed that Jonah seemed more frustrated with the bulk of the bar--trying to

turn over, trying to get comfy--than he had had before having his hours

reduced. So I started making sure he wears the bar for a while during the day

when he is very active. To remind him of how to move around in it and make sure

he doesn't lose those sensations. Hard to tell exactly, but he has been doing

so much better since we've been doing some daytime wear.(I know some people hate

the idea of putting the shoes on twice a day, but it's never been an issue for

us)

Hope this helps...
