Guest guest
I'll tell, but it's not pleasant! It was quite a bit rougher than I had imagined. We went in late Sat night and I was at 3 and 80% effaced. Not active labor but enough to keep me (I live about an hour and a half from the hospital). They monitored me overnight and checked again on Sunday around 10. I hadn't changed much...just to 4. They started Pitocin at 11 and contractions picked up and became more regular but still no changing going on. My doctor came in around 1:30 and broke my water (much more painful than I had thought it would be) and contractions almost immediately became extremely close together and much stronger. I had my epidural around 3 and thought that I might propose to the man who did it! Unfourtanately, the epidural stopped working about 2 hours later...just in time for me to start pushing. They tried adjusting it but it didn't help. I started pushing a little after 5 but the baby's head wouldn't come past my pelvic bone. The doctor tried using the vacum but it didn't help. He then used the forceps and baby Conner was born at 8:19. A few bruises from the forceps and swelling from the pushing and forceps/vacum, but in perfect health. He's doing great and has already gained about half a pound since we brought him home! He is worth every moment of that labor..... > Congrats Georgia!!
