Guest guest
Soon enough you will not be able to sleep on your stomach, you will know when that time is. your belly will be rock hard with a baby in there that just does not squish down, lol, It would be like laying on a beach ball. I had to find comfy spots on my sides and even spent several times in the recliner for sleep when I got really big. An extra pillow between your knees or a body pillow to snuggle up to and throw a leg over is quite helpful for alot of prego's. Guest guest
I'm currently 16 weeks and I still sleep on my side/stomach. Is it safe for the baby if I continue to sleep on my stomach? Will the time come in which I won't be able to sleep on my stomach. I never could sleep on my back. Thanks

Sleeping on your belly is fine so long as it's comfortable to you. by the time it would effect your baby at all, it would be more than uncomfortable by that point. As for sleeping on your back...after the first trimester, it's not recommended (although, again, your body will usually tell you if it's a problem or not...as pressing on the vena cava will cause your leg to fall asleep and won't feel good...if that starts to happen, get up and off your back) Soderblom CCCE CD(DONA) CLD Student Midwife - Mesa, AZ CAPPA Board of Directors Doula/CBE/Pregnancy/Birth Photography Owner: Birth Story Diaries - real births, real photos http://www.birthdiaries.com Owner: SouthwestDoulas.com

Guest guest
But, if you do end up on your stomach? I know that even though I'm nearly 33 weeks I sorta end up on my stomach sometimes during the night. I'm not completely on my stomach but I'm not truly on my side either, and I'm usually propping up my leg and upper torso with pillows. I have also ended up on my back but nothing ends up falling asleep either. Re: SLEEPING ON STOMACH > I'm currently 16 weeks and I still sleep on my side/stomach. Guest guest
Thanks . I pretty much figured that if it was comfortable to me that it was ok, I just need to be sure to listen to my body. Good info to know!!! Axelrod Re: SLEEPING ON STOMACH > But, if you do end up on your stomach? I know that even though I'm > nearly 33 weeks I sorta end up on my stomach sometimes during the > night. Guest guest
I'm a back sleeper, and I'm really struggling with sleeping on my side. I'm 20 weeks, and just in the last week it's started to feel uncomfortable to lay flat on my back. I went to a prenatal yoga class taught by a midwife, and she suggested rolling up a towel and laying on my back, with the towel under my right side. So I'm essentially on my back, but tilted to the left so the blood flows better. This has helped me in the last few nights. I try to stay on my left side as much as possible, but when I need a break from it, I lay on my back tilted to the left. My OB also said I could do something similar -- use a wedge pillow on my right side to tilt me to the left. Just in case this helps any other back sleepers out there. Hope everyone is having a great day! Dallas, TX Lap RNY 4/5/01 EDD #1 7/15/04 > > > > But, if you do end up on your stomach? Guest guest
You are very lucky!! I had to quit sleeping on my stomach at like 10 weeks. I am now 16 weeks and my sides are hurting from sleeping on them so much. I am not a good back sleeper! I don't think it would hurt the baby just uncomfortable.
