Guest guest
Robin, What type of sweetener does Crystal Light contain? I have been under the impression that ALL artificial sweeteners are really bad during pregnancy. Can anyone else tell me their doctors advice? Thank you!! I am really tired of drinking water..... Guest guest
It is sweetened with aspartame. I told my Ob that I drink alot of it and they did not say not too. I have always used sweet n low in my coffee, even throughout my pregnancies. When I had gestational diabetes the first round being prego the actually told me to use it in my coffee but I already was. I would ask your doc whatt hey think but it really helps quench the thirst and my surgeon said it was a great thing to drink in place of water. Guest guest
Dee, My OB said Saccharin was the only sweetner to avoid totally. He did say he preferred Equal or Splenda over sweet n low. But again everything in moderation. HTH, Jackie in MI edd 7/10/04 ]

Guest guest
Jackie, Thank you for the information! I had always heard that saccharine and aspartame were bad, bad, bad... so was surprised by the Crystal Light. I wondered about Splenda since it's actually a derivative of sugar itself. I will ask my doctor to be sure, but this is helpful. Thanks to everyone else who responded, too! I would LOVE to find more things to drink. Guest guest
Michele, I didn't know that about the Crystal Light in bottles! That is wonderful news! Thank you for sharing it ) Dee
Guest guest
The powder crystal light has nutra sweet in it. The CL sold already made up in bottles is made with SPlenda. Now, from what my neurologist told me, staying as far away from all sweeteners while pregnant is the best, but that Splenda has twenty years of research behind it, and so far, no bad news, unlike Nutrasweet, Sacchrine, etc. So, he told me that if I just had to have something sweet, he'd rather me use Splenda than any other sweetener... preferably real sugar, but... that's worse sometimes than Splenda, in his book! LOL! He also said that Stevia, being a natural sweetener, is a good alternative, too. Hope this helps! Sharon
