Guest guest
Thank You Ann Marie and Laurie, I have been in an open MRI for my neck and spine, I couldn't open my eyes, or I should say wouldn't open them. They let my friend come in the room with me and I kept saying Carol can you see me??? As long as she could see me I felt in enough control, but kept my eyes closed. But, even with the open type MRI it took all I could do to go in it. I have had a CT scan on my eye orbits a couple of times, that didn't bother me, that is like a donut type thing. But tonight on the news they showed a man having a brain scan and he had this contraption locked around his head sort of like a big open helmet, they fastened it shut around his neck and then they sent him through what looked like that round donut CT scanner. I just don't know how I could ever have something clicked closed over my head and survive it. They would have to use anesthesia to knock me out. Ha As of right now I have soma in me, Xanax, and Demerol, trying to get my muscles to relax enough to sleep, and as you see, I am wide awake! Nothing short of a freight train would put me out I am afraid. I am considering canceling this thing:( But I am also afraid of not knowing what they might find that might be able to help me if I do cancel! Oh what a dilemma. And from a grown woman who has braved 3rd world countries where one time a rat lived in my mattress, no electric, no doors,no nothing and I let this send me running in fear! haha Shame on me for being such a sissy about this! But I can't help it. Do you know of any websites that might show what the head gear would look like by any chance? Also.Ann Marie and Laurie, how many minutes were you in that contraption for??? Thanks and smiles to you from my trembling lips:))
Guest guest
I think you have gotten lots of good descriptions and ideas. I had to tell you what my sons have said about MRIs and CAT scans. Now, to start this was a good many years ago and they were young. The description was that a CAT scan was like having your head inside a washing machine and an MRI was like being inside a pop corn popper. They were only comparing the sounds. I can now think of that and it makes me smile. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Wed, 20 Oct 2004 01:31:12 -0400 > To: " Mitoldies " > > Subject: re:brain scan > > Thank You Ann Marie and Laurie, > > I have been in an open MRI for my neck and spine, I couldn't open my eyes, or > I should say wouldn't open them. Guest guest
Hi Folks, I almost forgot to update you on my brain MRI that I finally had done. My friend came in the room with me, I kept my eyes closed, and I did ok. It was an open style MRI, but still you are in enough to make a severely claustrophobic person not a happy camper. Especially with that head helmet thing. But it is done and I already have the results, and all is fine. My muscles are not doing so well and I have been having an awful time of that. But well enough now to be getting around. So I am happy for that. Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Smiles to you all,
