Guest guest
I wish I could help on that one. Kaitlin is only 8 months old and I was already thinking of moving her to a mattress on the floor with rails because she already gets stuck in her crib and wakes up so much. I never thought about the rails being a problem. I am curious to see what advice you get. Freeman
Guest guest
Is the bed made up with regular sheets, blanket, etc? I've noticed anytime we try for to sleep in that type of setup he gets tangled in the bedding with the bar and will usually pull one foot out. We are making the transition to a toddler bed and are also having a few problems with this. Guest guest
Hi Holly, We started Collin off in a toddler fire truck bed, and the same thing happened a few times he managed to flip out, and the sides were also high. One suggestion I have is to let them where very warm jammies rather then a big bulky blanket. Collin's bar was 12 " then and it just got to be to much, so when we moved in June we put him into a regular twin bed (with no rails) he has fell out maybe twice since then but I think he has more room. He actually always wants to sleep on the floor or our bed. I think with the bar being so wide he just wants space to be able to move around without falling. I let him sleep on his floor whenever he wants. Now the shoe coming off I think is a seperate issue (we have had this happen many times too) Maybe buy gripper socks like the old navy to make it less slippery (however we have them and this has still happened). I have tried to buckle tighter and double knot. Sometimes the leather gets strecthed so you have to goto the next hole. Collin can untie double knots which drives me nuts. I have seen him pull like there is no tommorow trying to get his foot out. I wish I had a solution to the foot coming out, but I just take it one day at a time, because I haven't figured out what to do yet. He is 3 so he usually can figure out how to undue what ever I try. Good Luck! Michele Collin 8-24-01 Collin's story at http://www.geocities.com/chele323232
Guest guest
Yeah, I thought about using her playpen, but she does the same thing except for her foot ends up in the air on the net and she gets frustrated and wakes up. I am not sure if she just rolls extra wide or if it is too small. It is a pack 'n play by Graco. Thanks though.
Guest guest
We changed from crib to play pen to avoid the rail issue but I'm thinking soon, in a month or so? of putting him on the lower bunk....he's about out grown the play pen. s. Guest guest
Oh, so when she rolls over she hits the side and is stuck laying on her side? Hmmm, what to do. Everett rolls but just sleeps with his foot straight up in the air. The crib issue was the banging noise and his feet getting stuck between the slats. Sounds like just about any bed you use is going to have the same problem since they move around so much as they sleep. I'd say put her on the floor but that has it's own risks involved if she wakes up and wanders off while you are asleep. s. Guest guest
I know. I thought about putting a Queen mattress on the floor in her room with rails, but then I am afraid she will get hurt trying to climb the rails and land on her head. But I think I am going to clear her room of everything but the mattress and put a baby gate at the door so she can't get out. I am still contemplating and trying to think of a better idea. I really hate the thought of her rolling onto the floor off of a mattress, even if it is really low. I have siderails on my bed, (she fell off once) and she is constantly trying to climb them in the morning. That's usually how a wake up, her climbing over me to the rail. I am really not sure what to do. After she goes to sleep she rarely rolls, it's just that when she does, she wakes up. She likes to sleep flat on her belly, not on her side. If she can't get that way she gets MAD. Thanks for the input though. She doesn't sleep well on the floor. Only very short periods. I think she associates the floor with play time too much to sleep. I was fast asleep and I awoke to a lound " THUD " I felt my stomach drop and was on eggshells just waiting and watching for something to appear for hours. I just don't know if she is old enough not to fall out of bed yet...she is only 8 months old. I will consider your advice in the near future though. Thanks! Guest guest
I think every kid has fallen out of bed a time or two. I remember doing it myself when I was young. And my sister fell out of a pop-up tent trailer at the age of 6 or so. Now THAT was a fall! My point is, they all survive and learn not to fall out. As adults we don't fall out anymore. Somehow we learned not to. Your daugther will learn too, probably by falling out at least once. And bruised or not she will be fine afterwards. So will you. and Shalom (now in her big bed at age 2yrs 3mons-dbb is 10hrs on, 14hrs off) mjz28ss@... wrote: In a message dated 11/5/2004 7:11:55 PM Pacific Standard Time, number23@... writes: > OK, so my last suggestion is to buy her her first copy of " The Princess and > the Pea " !!! sounds like she's the star of the story! > Hey!!!!!
