Guest guest
Well, I can tell you Christian banged his cast so much that there is barely any cast left on the back of his heel and bottom of the foot. I emailed Dr. Herzenberg and he said that it is fine as long as the foot hasn't moved or slipped. If it occurred right after the tenotomy I think there would be a problem though. What time is your appt. on Thursday? We will be there at 10:00. I was gone for over a week on vacation. I missed this site! Anyway, my loving parents watched the kids for my husband and I while we were gone. My parents have mostly hard wood floors, and I guess enjoyed banging her legs on the floor because she liked the sound it made. Well she banged so much she managed to work a hole in the heel of the plaster cast! Don't ask me how this is possible, only ! Anyway, I wished my parents had contacted us to tell us about the hole in the cast, but they didn't. They said it had only been a couple of days like that when we returned. All that is left is a little cotton. I know the heel is a sensitive area, plus this the one she had the tenotomy done. Should I be concerned? Her check-up is this Thursday (14th)and she is suppose to get the shoes and bar. Her foot has not moved at all and the correct rotation is still in place. Please give me your thoughts. & 3/2/04 bcf (last set of casts, 2nd go-around)

Guest guest
Hi , I know when we saw Dr. Ponseti he applies the cast much thinner than Ava's last docs. She did manage to soften the heels a bit. He suggested to use socks and fold them down to give extra padding for when she kicks. He also sent us home with a roll of plaster we could use to re-enforce if needed being these casts are on for two weeks and we are so far from Iowa. I know this doesn't help you now since your appt. is in a few days. KK Livi 01/22/03 Ava 05/27/04 Bilateral Atypical CF, 2nd go around, 3days left til casts come off...Hooray!!!! > > Hello everyone. I thought he just wasn't going to be there on Friday. I am excited about seeing his leg again but I am so nervous too for some reason. I don't know what my problem is! Guest guest
Thank you KK. We ended up adding a little padding and then taping all around the area. It looks horrendous, but who cares! It sounds like Ava is on the same scedule. Good luck with the DBB. Shook Retail Operations Manager/Baking Instructor Vie de France Yamazaki, Inc. 2070 Chain Bridge Rd. Guest guest
did this a few times as well.. As long as the foot hasn't moved and she isn't uncomfortable I think everything should be just fine. Make sure there aren't any sharp edges. If this wasn't her last cast they would put the fiberglass over the plaster. To keep it strong. My little guy was just stronger than the plaster. Good luck ! -------------- Original message -------------- Hello everyone. I was gone for over a week on vacation. I missed this site! Guest guest
If the dr. thinks it's OK to wait, then wait. In the mean time you could patch the hole if necessary. My son used to break his casts rather often. I got roles of fiberglass casting material from the vet. You dip the roll in water to moisten it, then wrap it around the broken area. It hardens fairly quick. s. Hole in cast Hello everyone. I was gone for over a week on vacation. I missed this site! Guest guest
hi susan, it sounds like sarah had a blast while you were on holidays. we have hardwood floors and i think they are the biggest thing to keep my son from realizing that the new cast sucks --bash bash bash(2nd round at 9mos) he has been happlily bashing at it since it was put on a week ago. i hope all is still well with sarah's correction..i'm sure it will be....cheers sam n jonas > > Hello everyone.
