Guest guest
Hi all-- Passing on something a friend saw in a print journal. It has helped me with mentally managing the life-long " weight " of mito. Barbara A lecturer was giving a lecture to his students on stress management. He raised a glass of water and asked the class, " How heavy do you think this glass of water is? " The students' answers ranged from 20 grams to 500 grams. " Actually, absolute weight doesn't matter, " the lecturer said. " The real weight depends on how long you hold it. If you hold the glass for a minute, it will feel okay. If you hold it for an hour, you will have an ache in your arm. If you hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance. Even though the absolute weight of the glass never changes, the longer you hold it, the heavier it becomes. " " What does this mean practically? " asked the lecturer. " If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later we will not be able to carry on. The burden becomes impossibly heavy. What you have to do is turn loose, put the glass down and rest awhile. Then you will be able to pick it up again. "
