Guest guest
Denisa, my heart is till breaking for you. I am glad you did not need the d&c though. I hope the doctor checks your hormones and anything else they can think of so that the next pregnancy is a happy one for you. Good Luck and God Bless. Guest guest
Well I went to the OB yesterday to see about a D&C. She did an ultrasound and before she did it, I asked her what the odds were I wouldn't need a D&C because I wasn't certain about wanting it. She said it was slim and none and basically slim left town because I hadn't seen any tissue pass and if it remained in my uterus we were looking at infection. Then she did the ultrasound and said that slim was still out of town but none had joined him because there was NOTHING in my uterus and the lining had thinned to " normal " . There would be no reason to do the D&C because there was nothing to remove. Apparently, she said, my body if extremely adept at spontaneous abortions. LOVELY! Yeah I want to be really good at that *note sarcasm*. I asked the doctor about progesterone and she said that comes into play with Luteal phase defects of which we didn't know if I had one because of how quickly I got pregnant. However, she would check it next time I get pregnant provided at least three months had passed. On Monday I go in for a depo shot because my HCG should be zero -- it is now 31. Until then -- actually until Tuesday -- no sex for me. Depo only takes 24 hours to kick in and work so we figure that should prevent me from getting pregnant. And it lasts three months so no worries about getting pregnant too soon. I just have to work on doing what I have to do. Anyway that is where i am now. Rasley mailto: drasley@... Guest guest
, Well, I'm glad that you don't have to go through the hassle and stress of the D&C procedure, but it sure sounds like the nurse could have used a better bed side manner. It was pretty obvious to me by the way she phrased her words to you that she put absolutely no thought into how her words may be received by you. Did your OB recommend the depo shot for you? I have always been leery of doing stuff like that because I'm afraid that it won't wear off in the time frame they claim or it won't wear off properly, but thats just me. Are you still going to use two forms of birth control or just stick with the depo? I'm glad that you posted an update as I have been thinking of you and sending vibes/prayers your way. Guest guest
R~ I don't know if doing the DEPO shot is such a good idea. I was on Depo for 4 shots = 12 months and after I stopped the shots, my periods did return, but I was annovulatory. MY OB said it could take me up to 18 months to start ovulating again. That is why I had to go on Clomid. Anyways, I have a few girlfriends who are also post WLS, one did DEPO for 1 shot and the other did 2 shots....both are suffering with the same annovulatory cycles, but their OB's aren't doing Clomid or other assisted ovulatory meds until they have been actively TTC for ONE full year. Anyways, what I am trying to say is, if you do want to start actively TTC in 3 months, I would not do Depo. I would find an alternate form of birth control. Just my opinion of course, but I've seen what it can do first hand, especially when you WANT pregnancy. Blessings~ Jackie in MI
Guest guest
Actually the OB wasn't that bad with her phrasing. She and I understand each other and she was actually explained that since I hadn't passed any tissue I was going to need a D&C however when she looked at my uterus she discovered I wouldn't. Then she made the comment about how my body is good at this -- at which point she paused and said that that is a bad thing however it will prevent me from surgery which is a good thing but hopefully after three cycles we can work together on having a pregnancy stay and deliver a healthy baby in the future. I am blunt myself so I prefer my doctors to be blunt. I have always told them to just say things. I don't want to give a bad impression of my OBs -- they are fantastic and their personalities suit me. All of them are happy I dont need surgery but want to help me figure out why my body has decided to be good at miscarrying. Which is a blessing when it comes to avoiding surgery but not a blessing when the goal is a baby. I have been on depo before so I suggested it to my doctor. I need to wait three months, it lasts three months and it kicks in after 24 hours so it seems perfect for this situation. I also don't have to think about it or do anything so it is a very passive form of birth control. And it has a 99.9% success rate. Lets just hope I am not in 0.1%. Rasley mailto: drasley@... Guest guest
Well the thing is we are not actively trying to get pregnant -- we weren't the last two pregnancies at least. I am hoping to get pregnant in the future but don't want to actively stop it except for the time I have to to lower my risk of miscarrying. Does that make sense? Rasley mailto: drasley@... Guest guest
~ I see...I think Depo will work for you as a good form of contraception since your not actively " trying " to get pg. Guest guest
, I'm glad that you weren't hurt by the comments by your OB nurse. I was just worried that it may have hit you wrong and the last thing I would want for you is more hurt. I totally understand the blunt thing, I have been accused of being blunt once or twice! LOL! I'm sendin prayers up for ya that things get all straightened out for you and that 3 months go by with the speed of light.
