Well, It came back positive!!! YAY! Now, I am waiting for the Doctors office to call me back so I can get a blood test done. A + HPT is proof positive. I have an EDD of 11/1/04, and I see my OB in March. This is all moving so fast. Only possible reason for a serum pregnancy test would be if it were a quantatative serum pregnancy test (as opposed to qualatative) and if you had a series of them to check levels if there is a concern about a miscarriage. other than that...there's no reason you'd need a serum test if there is a positive HPT.
