If any of you have taken metho, how long have you been on it? I also am

wondering how long it takes until you begin to feel a difference. I am a

school teacher, and the arthrits is beginning to take its toll on me.. Thanks

for listening.. >>

Hi, , I'm glad that you have found us, but sorry that you had the need

to find us. I'm fairly newly diagnosed too, in April of this year to be

exact. I'm currently taking methotrexate (12.5 mg/wk) and Lodine (NSAID). I

figure I'm going to be on methotrexate for as long as it continues to work

:-). We are still working on getting to the " right " dose. After the third

dose, I really started feeling better for several weeks, then the relief

started tapering off toward the end of the week. At that point, the doctor

raised the dosage, I started feeling better again a week or so later; the

relief again tapered off toward the end of the week and the doc raised the

dosage again. You obviously may have different results, as some people feel

better quickly, some slowly. I hope you're feeling better soon.

While we're sharing ages, I'm 34. :-)

Hi Patty,

I was diagnosed in August. You said that you will take

the mtx. as long as it works. Is your doctor's goal to

put you in remission and then take you off of it?

That's what my dr. said. I hope to go off as soon as

remission sets in--maybe wishful thinking. I take 15

mg. I don't like putting this stuff in my body.

Sometimes i wonder if i should just live with the pain

and discomfort. The only thing i do worry about is the

bone erosion since i already lost my wrist bone, and

soon to be losing my thumb knuckle bone.

I guess im still new and confused. I have a lot to

learn. I need to do more research.

Im hoping they find a new med. that doesnt give such

side effects. Have you lost any hair yet?

There are days that I feel like a toxic waste dump! Then there are the days

when I'm feeling better and I realize that my " cocktail " is working. I know

it's hard to deal with all of this stuff. My mom is always saying things

like, " You need to go to a spa for a year and get all of that stuff out of

your system. Get yourself healthy. " I try so hard not to come unglued! I

don't think people realize how insensitive they are. Like I want to take all

of this stuff! No, I just want to have some sort of quality of life.

Amy,

Glad to hear that you feel like a toxic waste dump as

well. I told my husband this morning that i have to

get something to put my meds. in. I am beginning to

forget what to take when--there are so many. I hate

filling my body with drugs!!!!

Does mtx. affect the memory in any way, because i used

to be so on the ball--now----I forget things easily.

Im feeling better knowing theres others out there that

feel as I do.

I'm not alone

I want to respond to the issue of what to do when OCD is no longer " running the

show " , but is clearly still impacting day to day life. As a psychologist, I

understand Dr. March's point of view that shifting out of OCD detective mode is

good for everyone as a child is making progress. The parent in me says,

however,

even " regular " non- OCD kids can have difficulties in school for which it would

help to work out a plan... So good for you for pursuing this! I do wonder,

however, given the amount of issues you named, and the types of

symptoms...obsessions, mental rituals, whether these were addressed in her

treatment. Sometimes the more invisible OCD symptoms do not get addressed

because

unless the child is telling you about it, you may not know it was there.

Perhaps

a booster session to handle the counting and other mental rituals would make

sense. Particularly if your daughter is doing better now, i.e., less bothered

by

other OCD symptoms, she may be receptive to some new ideas about controlling

mental rituals. Best of luck.

To those requesting information on the presentation I worked up for the

insurance company -

I just looked at the materials I have on the computer. I have the

titles of the abstracts only so I will have to look up the sources. In

addition I have an outline, bibliography, etc. It is lengthy enough that I

think I should send it as an attachment so that only those who want it will

have to download the information. It may take me over the weekend to get it

all in shape to send, so I hope you all don't mind waiting a few days for it.

I only used abstracts from articles from 1990 on, but at this point

they may be a bit dated. Still it will give a general idea of what kind of

materials I included. Hope it helps.

Rhonda,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It was not too long and you included a

lot of information. I think there are many like me who read the messages and

learn from them. We are gathering information. Thanks again

I would also be very interested in this as my now 6 year old niece began

having seizures at age 3 months (after the DPT). She has already been on

numerous medications, been life flighted, and in the ER quite afew times.

She is not walking or talking, not potty trained. My sister has taken her

to an allergist who put her on a rotation type of diet. They have seen a

great improvement in her eating, but nothing else to note yet. She was a

healthy baby at birth!!! Robbin

I've never heard of SuperEPA. I have heard of Super-Nu-Thera, which is

simply a multidose vitamin supplement. I don't think it has EFAs in it.

Greetings. CA's Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP) currently sponsors a small statewide working group which is looking at domestic violence and child abuse issues in the migrant and seasonal farmworker population. This activity is part of a larger federal grant they have from the Rural Domestic Violence Child Victimization program. As an independent consultant hired to facilitate about six meetings of this group, I'm seeking information about about or contact with individuals and/or groups who have studied family violence among MSFW's or have worked with victims who are MSFW. As you are aware, domestic violence is a serious health issue, among the many and complex health issues that affect farmworkers. Our group hopes to use the limited time available to us to construct a plan or recommendations that will improve the safety of migrant/seasonal farmworkers who are family violence victims.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me in terms of contacts or information.

Many, my wife could relate them to you, but it would take up too much

server space.

My wife is a much, much better person than I am; just ask any one in

my family!

Hiya, !

So glad you are doing well and recovering from your surgery. Can't wait

to " hear " how your " turn-on " goes. Remember to expect the least and be

pleasantly surprised with what you get! Ninety-Nine point nine percent, you

WILL hear! :o) In the meantime, let people pamper you and relax! :o)

Hi, ,

What an excellent reference piece you've provided for nely processing

CIers! Thanks for sharing that. I continue to keep a file on any and all

correspondance of anything or anyone concerning " business " to do with my CI.

A funny aside: when I get calls I can't hear/understand well, I explain

my hearing problem and say, " Are one of my children in the hospital> Is my

husband? Is this about any of my family? " " No? " " OK, thanks, I'm not

interested, bye! " and I hang up! LOL

So good to hear from you and know you are doing well!! :o)
