Jen,

I'm glad you found a group of doctors who are following the method in

Texas. You should encourage them to submit the paperwork to the U of

Iowa to get listed on Dr. P's site!

I'm not sure how big Aidan is now, but I liked to use a Boppy pillow

for tummy time when had casts on. I'd put her on the pillow so

that her arms were on the outside- the pillow would be in her armpit

area and her legs would lay in the horseshoe shaped opening....hope I

explained that okay. I would put toys in front of her on the floor.

You have to watch them close when you do this, though, because if

they wiggle much, they can end up squirming back down into the

pillow. I did this a lot with , but not so much with my Aidan

as he was a big wiggle-worm.

Don't know what to tell you about the stained plaster- you could just

cover it up with moleskin or extra cotton/padding. :)

We covered dd's casts in toddler tube socks to help keep them clean.

If it's not smelling you could try that to cover it up for looks

purposes. No suggestions for TT dd always liked tummy time even in

the cast. You might try rolling a blanket and putting it under his

arms and chest to get him up off the floor a little bit. HTH. Glad

you found some doctors you are comfortable with. As it has been

stated before finding the right doctor is ¾ of the battle.

I would recommend Iowa City for atypical clubfeet. We ended up

traveling down when my dd was diagnoses as atypical. Most doctors

aren't able to treat atypical clubfeet correctly. We ended up having

an additional 1 cast done and a tenotomy. We could take her tenotomy

cast off at home and they do casting there every 5 days so hopefully

your stay will be short like ours. sent our shoes to

the house and you can do most of the " check ups " via e-mail if you

need to. The weather in Iowa city should be ok for another month so

I would recommend going soon.

Re: the tummy time....

Try using a pillow or a Boppy pillow if you have it. That might make

it more comfy for him.

Re: the Poo....

I kept the top of the casts wrapped w/ moleskin so if it got nasty, I

just changed it. As for it getting on the cast itself, I used clorox

wipes. They worked really well and I think I just felt better seeing

the word 'CLOROX'. It felt cleaner LOL~

.

I was just thinking about you and Aidan the other day wondering what you

had decided since your last post. I'm glad you found some great doctors

and you feel confortable with them. Did you notice them manipulating the

foot this time? I know that was your major concern before. As far as

tummy time, never had any trouble with that. She has had really

strong arms since day one and has loved tummy time and pushing up on her

arms since the beginning. It was never uncomfortable for her. It is hard

for me to give you any recommendations in that area.

The poop on the casts.......just grin and bear it! I don't think there is

any way to get that off. I tried to srub it off and I never had any luck.

My attitude was, " well they're coming off soon anyway. " I know it is

gross though.

Thanks also for your response on clothing. My mom is a professional

seamstress (sp?), I never thought of starting a business. " Hey mom, I

have a business opportunity for you. " LOL!!!

Thanks . Yes, I did notice him manipulating the foot, before and after the

cast was on. Tell your mom I'll design them if she sews them!! I just

resigned from my job to stay home with the baby for about 6 months so I'm

looking. :-)
