Guest guest
I am having the surgury on Feb. 2nd. My Dr. said at least a year otherwise you are risking the babys health. I am also looking to get preg. We have gone through shots clomid and much much more. We have been trying for about 11 years. I am only 32 and am at 225 pounds so too hope it will help. Good luck. Guest guest
You really should wait at least 8-10 months in my opinion or sometimes longer. You really need to be able toe at well and take in all your nourishment and vitamins. The risk of Miscarraige is higher also for those who get pregnant sooner. Good Luck with everything HUGS, ROBIN, NY Age- 41 Due Date- #4 July 27th, 2004 OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/246/170??? Guest guest
Perla LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR! There are reasons for waiting -- making sure you get the proper nutrition and are not as easily dehydrated are two. Making sure neither the baby nor you suffers from malnutrition is another one. Also make sure you are taking birth control of some type. YOU NEED TO AVOID PREGNANCY for the first year. The risk of miscarriage is higher in the first year and you may suffer more complications than if you waited. I know you say you are infertile now but that changes so you need to take precautions and use contraceptions. As for only losing 5 pounds -- you started as a lightweight compared to many others so you can't compare your weight loss to others who may have started at much higher than you. Guest guest
Very profound advice, Thanks for sharing. Definitely if you are considering it, take a look at her reality and choose not to get pregnant until it's the best possible outcome for you and baby. Although I did not have that advantage, I accept my fate just as you are . Best wishes to you! Curious why they dont' want you to exercise?? Has anyone else's doctor advised them not to exercise? I have been going to the gym 3x a week and have lost 4 pounds last week. 9 months post op RNY -107 pounds 6 weeks pregnant w/3rd child
Guest guest
Perla, This is my first reply as I am very new to the group. I usually just read the postings in a digest as I am 8 weeks pregnant. I am, however over 3 years post-op. What really prompted me to reply was your weight now. While I am happy that you got the surgery (if your anything like most of us your life will improve and you'll generally be happier), unless you are VERY short your pre-op weight was 208-- that's not the typical " over 100 lbs " normally associated with this surgery (ies). For example, I was 240 and at 5'3 " was literally on the boarder of having the surgery. Possibly you had other co- morbities but your pre-op weight scared me. BUT the good news is you have less to lose and that may shorten the time normally given as advice to weight. Obviously each case is different but if not for medical factors, then psychological factors wait the year (AT LEAST!). You will find that you become a different person--somewhat renewed, you may have a different outlook on life. No doubt you will still want to have children--but revel in you first. Next year at this time get ready! But stay on the list and research for a while. See I got pregnant at 5 months post-op and lost it at 7 weeks. Right after that I left my husband (he was cheating--with someone " bigger " than me!). Now I'm with hubby number 2 who is VERY concerned about me even being post-op (anyone have one of those husbands/partners?). I stopped doing pregnancy research since I am very newlywed and we wanted to wait to be married for at least another year. I found out New Year's Eve and am so excited. Well let me stop--getting rambly...sorry. I just wanted to resound the waiting advice---but to also tell you to stick around a bit to research---maybe next year at this time we'll get a message from you with your even happier news (being post-op is the first happy news)! TAKE CARE and GOOD LUCK!
Guest guest
REGARDING YOU BEING UPSET AT YOUR WEIGHT LOSS... PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY FILLED YOU FULL OF FLUIDS AND SUCH IN THE HOSPITAL...SO TRUE WEIGHT LOSS AT THIS POINT ISN'T OBVIOUS. ALSO... YOU STARTED AT A " VERY LIGHT WEIGHT " AS COMPARED TO MOST WLS PATIENTS... IF YOU START AT 350 YOU WILL LOSE FASTER THAN IF YOU START AT 250... JUST THE WAY IT IS. REMEMBER THE WLS IS A TOOL ONLY, IT'S NOT AN OVERNIGHT ANSWER (PERSONALLY I GREW UP HOPING TO SUDDENLY GET JEANIE POWERS AND BE ABLE TO BLINK THE FAT AWAY), AND IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER...BE PATIENT. GOOD LUCK MITZI 3/4/02 -155 LBS > Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself to this group. I got this group > information from Obesity Help. Guest guest
Like you, I didn't have a whole lot to lose, and I lost my hundred pounds in about 6 months (plus the 20 that I gained while in the hospital because they completely drowned me in fluids--this might be why your weight loss seems so low at first, too). After 10 months I got the go ahead from my surgeon and gyn to go ahead and get pregnant. Honestly, though, I never started ovulating until 9 months post-op, so I think that my body was making me wait... I was just as anxious as you since I was infertile pre-op. Just enjoy your weight loss; you will be ready to get pregnant sooner than it seems, even with waiting until you are at a safe, stable weight. Good luck! > Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself to this group. I got this group > information from Obesity Help. Well, like the subject line states, > I'm 8 days post-op lap RNY.
