Guest guest
We are very excited to share with you that the Rural Women’s Health Project has been awarded funds from Fideicomiso Para La Cultura México-Estados Unidos [uS-Mexico Fund for Culture], a bi-national partnership of the Rockefeller Foundation, The National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) and the Bancomer Cultural Foundation of Mexico. This award will be used for Pizcando Sueños [Harvesting Dreams], a RWHP project which will serve as a cultural documentation of the Mexican Farmworking Women’s journey to Florida. While Pizcando Sueños has many components and phases, key aspects of this project include: - Recording Oral Histories of Mexican Farmworker Women in Florida - Compiling the three composite fotonovelas into a magazine-format - Developing three fotonovelas from the women’s Oral Histories to preserve the women’s journeys, memories and cultural legacy for their children and community - Working with host Community-based organizations in 5 different regions of Florida to utilize the Pizcando Sueños experience as a tool for empowerment, to give the community a stronger voice, as well as an opportunity to support Farmworking women - Transforming one fotonovela into a gallery presentation for exhibition in the United States and Mexico, including the Crealdé School of Art, Florida and the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, Mexico City, Mexico - Offering the fotonovelas as a tool for promotor/outreach worker programs in Florida and throughout the US If you would like more information, we look forward to hearing from you. -Robin Lewy 352-372-1095 -- Rural Women's Health Project | P.O.
