Depends on the mom..(and on the adoption

situation..are you adopting a newborn right after

delivery? or a 4 week old? or a 10 week old?)

(so says the woman who adopted her first baby and

nursed him...

and who is also the director of CAPPA's Advanced

Adoption Certification Program. *grin*)

Most adoptive mothers will need *some*

supplimentation...especially in the beginning.

But many can end up exclusively nursing.

Ouch...that was rather harsh.

I understand that this is your opinion..and everyone is

entitled to their opinion...therefore, I won't comment on

your opinion but will just offer mine as well.

there is nothing wrong with both mothers nursing the

baby. It can be a beautiful way to love and bond with

the baby and share in the mothering of the baby. Many

nursing moms have nursed babies that aren't their own

(nursed friend's babies while babysitting, or sister's

baby while babysitting, for example)...

and to say that she isn't the baby's mother is..

oops...I forgot..I'm not going to comment on your

opinon.

Both women are the baby's mother. Carrying a baby

does not make you a mother.

>

> Why have your baby suckle on your " partners "

breast.. when the

run is so

Ye gads...

then why have the father involved at all..after all, there's

a chance he could die or you could divorce, so why do

that to your children?

or..why should your children have anything to do with

YOU..since something could happen to YOU as well.

sheesh. What a grim outlook on life you have.

> Demrie.. you opened up the topic... and I can't sit here

and pretend

And you don't have to ...you're entitled to your opinion.

but there's also a difference between giving your

opinion..and being rude/mean.

(BTW...do you know how LOW the separation rate is

among committed same-sex couples? Your comment

was on divorce rates...those are heterosexual couples.)

I agree I think this is such an amazing thing

melinda

Sharon,

That just sounds neat. Maybe I am wierd but the idea that they have produced

human " udders " that allows someone that ability is fantastic. I never would

have thought such a device existed.

" The Truth only offends those who are not living the way God intended for us to

live. "

I was going to keep my comments to myself, simply because I didn't want to start

any kind of flaming, but you stepped over the line on this comment! I am a

MARRIED, HETEROSEXUAL woman, and was married in a Methodist church. I feel that

I live in a way that God intended, and *I* was offended by your comments. Having

your opinions and stating them are one thing, and I agree that being PC is a

bunch of BS at times, but there is such a thing as TACT. You slammed anyone who

didn't agree with you by saying that they are not living the way God intended.

If you want to make a comment about a certain email, and you HAVE the right to

your opinion, please make it, but PLEASE don't group everyone who may not agree

totally with you as " not living the way God intended " because all that does is

show why YOU might be living in sin since you are teaching your son not to be

tolerant of others differences, AS THE BIBLE SAYS.

Again, this is just my opinion, as is my GOD and GOVERNMENT right to do.

the first day after delivery NOBODY makes milk...and

there is very very little colostrum that most people

produce before their milk comes in.

usually it takes 3-5 days for your milk to come in. Some

people have it come in after 24-48 hours, but that's

more uncommon.

Babies don't usually need ANYTHING for the first 6-7

days anyways...so trying to nurse exclusively for the first

5 days isn't dangerous for your baby to see what type of

milk supply you can build. And if you're really worried

about it, you can rent a baby scale...weigh them before

and after each feeding and see how much exactly they

are eating....

I agree with , you don't need to have the baby actually suck on

your nipple for bonding. When my daughter stopped breastfeeding she

still liked it when I fed her while she was close to my bare skin. I

think it is just the smell and the feel of the skin. If my shirt was

too low she thought it was time to eat and cuddle!! Good luck with

whatever choice you make. Whatever you choose will be the right

thing for you. Just enjoy motherhood, both of you.

I regret to inform all of you that I am removing myself from this

group due to the personal emails I have been receiving that are

harrassing and prejudice in nature. I don't know how to stop them

except to remove myself from the group.

I thank those of you who have not judged me by my sexuality, but have

responded to me as one mother and/or mother-to-be to another.

Unfortunately, these personal attacks, to my personal email, are

something I cannot allow.
