Unfortunately, my only advice is to let her cry. She will eventually be hungry

enough to take whatever you have.

They do still make the older style rubber plytex nipples as I had

several with Kelsey. We found them at Walmart mostly. You might also

be able to find them online somewhere but the playtex bottles were the

ones we had the best luck with.

My son was the same way, stubborn, stubborn, stubborn! I needed him to

start taking the bottle because I was going back to work. What I ended

up doing was dropping him off at my moms house and left. I too had every

nipple on the market, so I left everyone of them with my mom. I left him

for the entire day! He DID NOT want to eat from the bottle, but

eventually they give in when they get hungry enough. It is hard, but you

can't give in. They can sense and smell you if you are in the same house.

So it is best to just leave. Also because it is easier to cave when you

hear them crying because you feel horrible, naturally. It took my son

about 6 hours to finally eat from the bottle. After a while they realize

they aren't getting it any other way, so they get hungry and eventually

will eat from the bottle. They don't have a choice if they want to eat.

Remember, it is very hard and will only work if you are not around. Do

you have a parent that can help you? Someone who can handle a fussy baby?

It sounds mean, but it works. It took him several days before he would

eventually take a bottle directly from me. My husband could give him one,

but I had to completely leave the room or go outside during his feeding.

We had the same problem with #'s 2, 3 and 4!!! After trying

practically every bottle system on the market to see which one

the 'baby' would take, we were resigned to the fact that, if the baby

is really hungry...the baby will take it! I always gave a full

nursing just before I was walking out the door and since I was never

gone for more than 5 hours, the baby did fine...tears or not. We

ended up going straight to the sippy cup from the breast because the

bottle was just too difficult. I think with the sippy cup, there was

instant reward...they sucked and then boom, they got the milk whereas

with the bottle, they had to keep sucking just to get a tiny amount.

We have a sippy cup (leak proof) with a rubber 'sipper' rather than

the hard plastic tip...can't think of which brand it is, but it has a

removable plastic 'double handle' collar and the 'sipper' can be

removed and switched with a nipple piece as well if need be. I never

bothered to buy the nipples since our kids took to the 'sipper' piece

without a problem.

I'm sorry , But I have absolutely no advice for you other than if

you really want this... and you want it badly you will have to figure out

which nipple she likes (have you tried the playtex nurser orthodontic

nipple was the only one that worked for my first - seems kinda nipple

shaped and it is NOT silicone) and then give her bottles at least once a

week, maybe twice or more (with EBM of course) and don't stop. I was never

able to keep up that schedule with my children, and each of them stopped

taking any kind of bottle by the time they were 4 months old or

so. Bottles are such a PITA I just couldn't bother with them, and would

forget to do it each day/week... whatever. Nursing is so much easier. So

I just let it go and didn't go out... heck, I don't go out now

lol!! Funny thing, each of mine would take a bottle from me much better

than anyone else... for whatever that's worth...

Thanks Jenni,

I will try looking on-line, have checked local Walmart and they only

carry the silicone ones, glad to hear the " old style " is still

around, they seemed more natural feeling.

-WOW I didn't realise that!! I have left the room but will try to

leave the house for a few hours next time (good excuse to go shop

lol). Unfortunately we don't have any family here at all but my mom

is coming for a visit sometime around Christmas so if we haven't

mastered it by then, I can get her to give me a hand...can smell you

in the same house, that is so neat!!

Great idea Daiga, I will be picking up a few things for her (little

rubber coated spoon, sippy cup etc) I will definately find one with a

rubber sippy part, seems she would prefer this to hard plastic,

Funny how that happens huh...we just had the last football game here

to see who goes to the greycup (Canadian football - hubby is into the

playoffs of course) and the shape he came home in and how he felt the

next day...expensive Crappy draught beer at the stadium. WOW! He is

not a big drinker so he gets pretty shloshed hehe, kind of makes me

YES! That's the brand name! After 4 kids, I now have a collection

of the Playtex, Gerber and Avent sippy cups. Owen and Rhys will use

any of them now but I prefer the Avent ones.....they've never once

leaked! Both the Playtex and Gerber ones have leaked because

toddlers go through stages where they shake, throw and generally

abuse them enough to get the stoppers on the inside of the lid to

dislodge! The Avent ones actually 'click' in place so they're quite

sturdy and durable.

I'm glad to hear that the teething tablets work I'm really needing something for

my son .About the bottle situation my son was very stubborn and picky

about taking a bottle i tried every kind nothing worked until i paid a little

extra and bought the Avent bottle. the first stage nipple it has a # i on the

nipple u can get it from London Drugs it worked for us.One more thing my son

wont let my husband feed him a bottle either......mama's boy .lol

Hi Jen,

Yes they did work, we still had a bit of a challenging night...Grace

is just going to be a bit of a difficult teether. Thanks for the

advise, I do have the Avent bottle (I think I have just about every

bottle out there hehe). We did have to use them just after she was

born for a while...I will give the Avent another go!

Hi,

This sippy cup sounds like what takes and it is made by

Avent. She takes that one just fine but any of the hard plastic

sippys she refuses.

She has never had a bottle so I don't have any advice about that.

When my twins, Owen and , were in the NICU, I gave the nurses

the Playtex with the orthodontic nipples to use for the night when I

wasn't at the hospital to nurse. They hated bottles though so as

soon as they came home, we stopped using them. Nursed them for 13

months and is still going strong at 14.5 months!
