Guest guest
Hi Lea, I am new here too. I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was a teenager. I am 33 and got pregnant with my daughter by surprise at 26 and pregnant with my second daughter doing infertility meds., glucophage and iui. I continued the glucophage 1500mg/day throughout my pregnancy. The baby was very healthy and I actually weighed 10lbs less at 9 months then I did when I got pregnant. I am about 30lbs from goal now and starting to think about trying for another. I talked to my endo. and surgeon about trying glucophage to see if it will help me ovulate since I am very, very irregular. The surgeon said fine and the endo. gave me the presription and said that it might work but she only wants me to start with one pill a day. She is afraid that is might hurt my new GI tract. She said it could cause gastritis. Is this serious? can it cause ulcers or is it just the bad diarrehea you get when starting glucophage? Sorry I can't be more help but I just wanted to let you know that there was someone else on the list trying to do the same thing. I have also heard a few people say it helped them lose those last few pounds. > Hi my name is lea. and i am a new poster. i think i have posted one > message before. anyway i am now exactly one year post-op and down > 150 lbs. yay...i have been trying to conceive for a few months now > because of some differing factors and have been taking glucophage for > pcos...i just wondered if anybody has had a similar experience and > what the outcome was? thanks girls. Guest guest
Hi, my infertility doctor mentioned at my last visit that it may be an option to try glucophage. She mentioned something about it only working if something was wrong with insulin level, or something. Not that i am diabetic, but that when they do bloodwork for it, something about the insulin levels. but if they come back ok, then gluchophage is not an option. They will have to look into something else. Can anyone tell me what the glucophage actually works for? My doctor recomends that I do not take anymore clomid, that we need to look at other options. Is it to make me ovulate better? As far as I know I ovulate....but have recently started having irregular periods. But after my cycle i can do an ovulation test and get a positive day in there during that period. Does the gluchopage help to get pregnant in general? Is it better with iui or other med? The doctor also mentioned metaform. I think that was what it was called. What is thet for? A stronger infertility drug than clomid? Is that a shot? Has anyone had experience with that med? How does it work? Ins cover? Is it very expensive? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...........and best of luck to all the new preg ladies and new mommies. :-) Sharon in GA

Guest guest
Lea, I am also a PCOS'er and I was on Glucophage 1000mg/day for 6 months when I found out I was pregnant. I also did Clomid 50mg for 3 cycles and it worked! With my last pregnancy, 8 months on the GLUCO and pg! This time I also had an HSG test to see if my tubes were open and DH had a SA to make sure his swimmers were OK. It was so shocking to get pg in that 12 month time frame. I wish you all the BEST! Guest guest
sharon my doc put me on glucophage even though i have had regular periods since the day of my surgery. he says it is something to try before clomid. because it regulates the insulin for some reason it also regulates your hormones. he never did any bloodwork he just told me to try it. i have been having regular periods before so i don't see any difference really. also it can cause some gastro problems but once you take it for a few days it will go away...bad tummy ache and some diarrhea. i also did notice that the cyst on my ovaries that would " pop " every month went away. so it must do something. i just can't wait to have a baby. feel free to post any more questions, i will try to help. lea
