Guest guest
Tammy, Your gyn may be very nice, but she is uninformed. In my travels to the third-world, I've met mothers who get FAR less nutrition than any of us, and even THEY often deliver relatively healthy babies. I'm not saying that a mother's nutritional deficiency won't cause any problems in the developing baby, but it tends to be specific things (lack of folic acid causing neural tube defect, etc). Think of all the moms who LOSE weight during their entire pregnancy or who puke the entire time, and still deliver healthy babies. The statistics say that a fairly large percentage of women who become pregnant will miscarry... either the egg didn't develop properly, the sperm wasn't quite right, etc... the vast majority of these we just have no idea why they don't work. But her " guess " that it was due to nutritional deprivation is not a particularly educated guess. Especially at 8 weeks along, that little speck doesn't require enough to make much of a dent. Unless your gyn actually examined the expelled tissue and did extensive testing on it, she really can't know what caused this particular miscarriage. All that being said, I am very sorry that you've experienced this loss. I had a m/c in 2000 and it devastated me. Took me a very long time before I could think of it without crying. Let us know if we can help. Blessings, Kris on 2/11/04 9:41 PM, tfarrison2002 at tfarrison2002@... wrote: Hello Everyone I am new to this sight Glad I found it. Guest guest
Your GYN is out of their Frickin Tree. It was probably something hormonal which is quite common. I have had 2 miscarraiges and one was pre and one post-op and they were both due to not enough progesterone. I am very sorry for your loss. I do hope you try again to have a baby but I would get a different doctor to take care of you, one that knows what they are talking about. Guest guest
Pardon my frankness, but that's a load of crap. If you had a miscarriage, it's probably due to the fact that the pregnancy had something inherently wrong and just wasn't meant to continue. I had one last June, and was pregnant again by July. This pregnancy is nearing it's end and has been absolutely perfect. I was barely 7 months post op when I got pregnant this last time, so I doubt that 2 years post op your nutrition had anything to do with it. Just chalk it up to another uninformed medical professional playing guessing games. Kari Hanson RNY 1-8-03 Aerin Hanson EDD 3-26-04 > Hello Everyone > I am new to this sight Glad I found it. Guest guest
So sorry for your loss. And I agree with everyone else that your OB/GYN is fulla crap! I had a miscarriage 2-10-01 and have learned lots since then. I was told by my Dr. that about 75% of conceptions never make it to full term. Just shows how much of a miracle all of this really is. I wish you peace and comfort in this time of loss and send hugs and good thoughts your way. Guest guest
Tammy, Please don't listen to what he said was the reason for your miscarriage. I had a miscarriage with triplets in September and it was just that the sac formed but nothing else so it was just my body saying that it was not the right time. Don't blame yourself for anything you did or didn't do. It is hard enough to get over having the miscarriage to have your doctor put the blame on you. Give yourself time to heal and know that you will be okay and can try again. Take good care of yourself and I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Guest guest
, Are you sure that you were actually pregnant, and didn't have a " phantom " pregnancy? From what you have discribed, that is what it sounds like. Niki RE: misscarriage Tammy, Please don't listen to what he said was the reason for your miscarriage. Guest guest
Like , I had an empty sac miscarriage too. Everything went as it was supposed to until week 7, then I started bleeding, and it turned out that I had a sack but no fetus. The dr's didn't call it a phantom pregnancy. I don't remember what the name for it was though. Kris

Guest guest
Tammy This is just my opinion but first I want to say how sorry I am for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your miscarriage wasnt your fault or your wls, I had a miscarriage back in nov 02 and was told the reason women miscarry is because there is something wrong with the baby and or in my case a tubal pregnancy that disolved it self, or can be something hormonally wrong if not corrected in time. This is not your doing we do not have control over it.. i feel the nurse was wrong to tell you this. thats just my opinion and dont mean to make matters worse but this upsets me because we had wls to help ourselves get better and people should make use feel like we did something wrong when we had the surgery because something else went wrong that had nothing to do with it.. i do wish you well.. > Hello Everyone > I am new to this sight Glad I found it.
