Guest guest
Robin, My friend had one exactly like the one in your groin and it was a pain to fix, I guess they had to do it twice and use some mesh stuff because it didn't take the first time so be careful when you get that one fixed after the baby. I think I may have made this bigger with the shoveling but I kinda think its been there for a while and I didn't know it. I remember noticing " something " different when I was about 3-4 months pregnant and that was before snow, but was definitely around lawn mowing/leaf raking time. LOL! The wonders of being a military spouse is that hubby is at work so much that most of the household chores falls to the spouse. Just another sacrifice we make for our country. Do you think this counts as a injury in the line of duty? LOL! Our biggest concern is when we were living here in a hotel for a couple of months before out " official " move here I had to have emergency gall bladder surgery and I made sure that I got a surgeon who did WLS so he was going know what he was looking at. Well the surgeon and hospital staff was so awful that I almost died twice!!! Once because they seriously overdosed me with morphine after surgery and none of the nurses would answer my beep, and second because the surgeon did the surgery lap and I told him several times I was way too short (5'0 " ) for lap surgery and he did it anyway, ended up cutting something and I bleed internally for 3 days needing 3 transfusions and my entire stomach turning black! So my husband and I are really nervous about me having another surgery here to say the least. I mean we are already nervous as hell having our kid here, thats a big reason why I'm having my twin sis with RN experience in the room, so she can keep an eye on everything they are doing with my kid, but we can't exactly have her in the room during a surgery. I sure wish I knew people up here that could recommend some surgeons. Axelrod - Question about pouch - Help! I had a big grapefruit like bulge in my upper abdomin that I thought was my pouch and when I went for my 6 months checkup with my surgeon he felt around and said it was a hernia, he was right the last time he said I had one from my gallbladder too and he fixed that one when he did my gastric bypass. I now have one too in my groin area, like almost in the crease of my leg but on the pubies,(sorry for the visual) it is the size of a walnut but when I used the treadmill it grew to the size of a tangerine, I never knew it was there until I did the treadmill for several days, yours is probably starting from the shoveling, He checked that one and I was scheduled for surgery for the 2 of them right before thanksgiving but the doc had to cancel because he did something to his eye and now I have to cancel until after the baby. He knows I am prego and said it should not be any problem at all Thank God for that HUGS, ROBIN, NY Age- 41 Due Date- July 27th, 2004 OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/246/170??? Guest guest
Robin, I called my OB's office and talked to the nurse in detail as to what happened during my gall bladder surgery and that both my husband and I are very nervous about having surgery in this state. She was very sympathetic and understanding, and thankfully reassuring. I explained to her that I want my OB to find me a surgeon that he is familiar with that does the WLS. I'm sure as a OB/GYN he has to know some surgeons, I'm just hoping that some of them have done WLS and they can team up to take care of me. Of course when I see my OB on Monday (with my hubby of course and my Mom since she will be in town, poor guy will be inundated! LOL!), he will get an earful again as to what happened with the gall bladder surgery and how freaked my husband and I are about surgery here again, stressing that we are really depending on him to find me an excellent surgeon. I really like my OB and have alot of confidence in him so I pretty sure it will all work out. I also talked to my physical therapist today and she was pretty sure, after I told her what all you ladies said and described what my tummy looked like that it was a hernia. She said that there are still plenty of exercises I can do to help my psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia without aggravating the hernia. She was great about calming my nerves (her specialty is working with pregnant women who need PT) because I was telling her how I was nervous about when I go in to deliver this baby and also ending up pushing my entire pouch out the top of my tummy! LOL! She said there is a special binder that they will make for where my hernia is, and will work all through the pregnancy, that will keep all my bits and pieces where they are supposed to be even when I'm bearing down hard to push this baby out. I don't know how comfy this binder will be to wear all the time, but I would rather deal with that then ripping this hernia more, which is what I think has been happening. I sure don't know what I would do without all you guys, you all knew right away what I was talking about and describing, that it was a hernia, and were there to reassure me that it was going to be ok. I spoke to some friends on my OSSG group in AZ and they were saying it was the baby, but I knew you guys were right, not them. Thanks again everyone, I don't know what I would do without ya!!! Axelrod Re: - Question about pouch - Help! Omg, I would be scared to death to have anything done in that hospital after almost dying 2x. I would ask anyone you run into about docs and see who recommends who the most. Or maybe the ernia will go down enough to wait it out until you do find a good surgeon. Maybe call your old surgeon and see if they know anyone in your area HUGS, ROBIN, NY Age- 41 Due Date- July 27th, 2004 OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/246/170???
