Guest guest Posted January 15, 2004 Report Share Posted January 15, 2004 Yes, if its determined that you have an incompetent cervix, they can do what's called a cerclage, which is just a little round purse- string stitch around your cervix to keep it closed. They will remove it before baby comes usually around weeks 36 or up(each MD is different and has varying protocol and procedure). I have had a few patients with prior incompetent cervix's without cerclage's that end up doing fine without them, but most do have them around 12 weeks (again varies with each OB, but most wait til the first trimester ends). Guest guest Posted January 18, 2004 Report Share Posted January 18, 2004 Well, I finally got to sneak in here to the computer. The doc put me at complete bed rest. He said that my cervix measured 2.7 and for them to stitch me it had to be at 2.5. So he said for me to go to bed and come back on Tuesday for another U/S and they will measure again. I will keep you all posted and let you know what they say on Tuesday. Thanks for all the info and the prays, keep them coming!!! I am off the bed.
