Guest guest
Has he been in these particular shoes for 3 months? It might be possible that he needs a larger size now. My son's doctor said that when you start noticing red marks that weren't a problem before and his toes are near the end of the shoe, it's time to get new shoes. was getting red marks on the tops of his shoes by the strap for a while and his toes were close to the edge of the shoe. We just got him a larger pair and the red marks are now gone. Just a thought. and BCF 03/25/2004 DBB 23/7 On 10/6/2004 7:01:01 PM, nosurgery4clubfoot wrote: > has a red sore on the top middle of his foot. It seems like it is irritating him, when I touch it he squirms a little and cried today. I put a band aid on it tonight and I will see how it looks in the morning. Any suggestions??? I wonder why this is happening now. > > > 2/9/04 BLCF DBB 23/7 > > > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
I was going to post about redness today too. n is still slipping out of his shoes....no matter how tight i get it. He kicks his CF foot until it just comes out. His foot is fully corrected, and no smaller than his non-CF foot..so I don't know how he manages...but he does. Well, last night he was trying to get it off again, but it got stuck and he had a red spot, almost a blister, on the top of his foot almost in the ankle crease. I don't think I can put a band-aid on that, because won't that just cause more rubbing? especially in the bend like that? Any suggestions on what I can do? > > has a red sore on the top middle of his foot. Guest guest
Owen too developed sores on the tops of both feet (his right, non- affected foot, was worse) when we went into the second pair of Markell shoes. They stayed for as long as he was in that pair of shoes and began to subside once he got his next pair of shoes. I know that it was caused by the strap on the shoe but I'm not exactly sure why. One thing I have noticed is that this current pair of shoes (2 sizes larger than the last pair) are quite a bit wider and I've wondered if that has anything to do with it. In the last pair, his foot was just as wide as the sole of the shoe if not a tiny bit wider. The only thing that I can suggest is to try to add extra padding to the tongue of the shoe or continue to put padding on his foot before placing it into the shoe. Also, as you tighten the strap on the shoe, try pulling it up to a higher position on the top of the foot so that it doesn't rest on the sore area (and possibly make the sore worse). Hope this helps! Guest guest
– You could try a blister Band-Aid. They are a bit more expensive but they hold really well and yet come off with out causing irritation. I left Tori's on her heal for several days. Is the strap causing the sore? You can also pad the strap with some moleskin if it is. Brenden's mom – You could also try the blister Band-Aid. Is he atypical cf? My daughter continually kicked out of her shoes before we found out she was. You could also try double socking to put some extra padding on that foot until it heals. Guest guest
I actually don't even know what atypical CF is. What is it? > > – You could try a blister Band-Aid. Guest guest
Atypical cf tend to be a little wider and smaller. I lost all of my links or I would send you to some sights with pictures. Hope someone else will give you some websites to check out. They were typically the 5% that needed surgery. My daughter has atypical clubfeet and she was ALL WAYS kicking out of the shoes that is how I knew there was a problem. I e-mailed pictures to Dr Ponseti and he could tell from the pictures that she had atypical. If you are in doubt I would e-mail him some pictures to look at. Guest guest
Zeke had a red sore in a similar place on his foot. I thought it was from the strap, but when i lined everything up, it was from the tongue of the shoe, which was bumping up a little right in front of the strap. I used a blister bandaid, cut out the center, and put the hole over the sore spot so that there wouldn't be any pressure on that spot with the shoes laced (supported by the bandaid around it). We took out the tongues (never used them again) and also were careful about where the strap fell on his foot, and the spot disappeared. He also just recently started getting a more noticeable red spot on both feet. We let out the straps one notch, and that seemed to do the trick. I'm so paranoid about keeping the shoes secure, but I guess his feet need to grow! Caroline and Zeke, bcf, 14 hrs.
Guest guest
Here's the link to Angel's site about a-typical clubfoot: http://adifferentfoot.freeservers.com/ it's also in the links section of this group's website. I'm sure n does not have a-typical clubfoot because he has very mild feet and Dr. P has already reviewed pictures, I'm sure he would have noted it.
