She's happy and we are happy. I hold Kaitlin sideways. Like I sit sideways and she lays on her back across my lap in the chair. I kind of lean into her, but she has stretched my boobs so much that I don't have to lean that much anymore...LOL! We have a big, soft recliner, so it works. It also keeps her feet from getting her feet stuck on the armrests b/c they are straight with the chair and I am the one sideways. Also keeps her more aligned. I hope that description makes sense. Guest guest
Holly, I prop Grace up on a big pillow to nurse, do you use a pillow when you nurse athan? nosurgery4clubfoot , " holly " wrote: > > I am glad that I have a support group that encourages breastfeeding. > I'm also glad that the subject was brought up on the board because I > had some questions about breastfeeding with the DBB on. athan > tends to get out of his shoes easier while I'm feeding him, do any > other mother's have this problem? Guest guest
Hi Holly, Another Holly here! When I was b/f Zach and he was in the bar it helped to use a pillow from our bed to prop him up. I found if his legs were much lower than the rest of his body, neither one of us was very comfortable. I never had problems with him pulling out of his shoe, but perhaps using the 'ol pillow trick might help with this? I haven't read any of the other posts so forgive me if this has already been mentioned. B/f when Zach was in his bar was never totally comfortable for me. When compared with doing it without the bar, it stunk - but was do-able. Whenever he didn't have the bar on and I b'f we were both in heaven Take Care and Good Luck! Guest guest
When I was bf dd I laid down on my side most of the time. It was comfortable for both of us and she could rest her top foot against me. I would try some different positions and see what works for you. Try to find positions that keep the bar from getting stuck on you or armrest or anything.
Guest guest
Laying down was definitely easier but not always convenient. When sitting up, I would tuck the Owen's lower arm under my arm and then rest his head in the crook of my arm, then with my free arm, pull his top leg over so that he was sort of laying facing me, and then just keep that arm holding his legs to me...that way it was like a 'hug' when he was nursing and he usually wasn't interested in trying to move his leg...if he tried, my arm was right there to stop it. Guest guest
My prefers the side lying position. I use a blanket to prop him on his side and lay next to him. He is also inthe dbb 23 hours a day. holly hwcutie@...> wrote: I am glad that I have a support group that encourages breastfeeding. I hold him across my belly because it's easier for me, but maybe holding him another way might help keep his foot in his shoe. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Lying in bed to b/feed is the most comfortable but when we're sitting up or Im standing, I position him much like Daiga does but to support his legs, I either turn him completely toward me like we're tummy to tummy which leaves his feet in the air... Or I slip an arm between the legs and hold the upper leg in the crook of my arm. Other times, he'll want to be on his back so I put my other arm under his legs at the knees so his feet are dangling and he's not having to support the weight of the shoes and bar. Guest guest
When I put him on a pillow or a boppy, he tends to wiggle out more and it's uncomfortable for me. I'll try it again though, athan's so big I need the extra support.
