If you read the MDA chat with Dr Cohen, he recommended Pneumovax and Flu shots

for Mito patients who are tolerant of it (no egg allergies with the flu shot).

I had the Pneumovax 5 years ago next spring and according to my primary care

physician, need to have the booster this coming spring. Having it done agan

this soon could be due to the cochear implants though as they are also

recommended for anyone who has any type of implant. When I had the first one,

the doctor in RI said it needed to be done every 10 years.

The guide lines for the pneumonia shot keeps changing. Each doctor I see has

a different approach. My pulmonologist said that it is recommended at age 65

if given before. I wonder if this is because those over 65 are at greater

risk for complications. I guess we have to follow those guidelines that fit

our own picture. I would rather be safe than sorry.
