Guest guest
I have been reading lots of messages about difficulties with the bar and I wanted to share a story from the other side. got his DBB and Markell shoes on Monday. He cried like the dickens from the start of the saw until the shoes were put on. A total of about an hour and a half. Once the shoes were on he fell a sleep and has been an angel since. I was nervous about the bar being too short but I measured it last night to his shoulders and it is perfect. We go back for a check up in six weeks. I just hope that he does not out grow it before then. At his 2 month check up he had more than doubled his weight and with the casts on he showed a growth of 5 inches since birth. I think he might be in line to be a linebacker for the Patriots! He has ate and slept just like he was doing with his casts on. I just wanted to post to let the newbies who have anxiety like I did about the bar know that there is another side. On a side note I did give some pointers to the Orthotist in Boston about the shoes. I asked him to put them on with the buckle facing in and he was shocked at how much easier it was to fasten them. When I told him about the site and the tips and trick for the FAB he smiled and asked for a copy. I think he may want to pass it out to parents that are new to the bar. This group has been a godsend and I am very greatful to all the parents who have stayed on to shre with us newcomers and to all the new newcomers it does get easier. Someone once told me to remember this saying, " And this too will pass " . I just keep repeating it to myself like an alchoholic and the serenity prayer.......
