When I got the message they were all ready closed. I waited all weekend to call this morning. The nurse said that my test came back abnormal and I dont know what it is called, let alone spell it (LOL), but they are going to do a biopsy on my cervix (?). This is all new to me and I still in shock and am really scared. My two sisters have cysts on their ovaries and I was talking to a friend of mine and she said that several of her friends have had the biopsy done for cancer...does anyone know if that is true? I am really freaking out and am really scared. I have the test done on Friday. They didnt want to wait any longer than that. Has anyone experienced this? If so, what was the end result? I guess my ultimate fear is losing the baby. Thanks for listening (reading) to me. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated! Tonya
Guest guest
Tonya If this was life threatning the dr would have been available to take your call when you called back over the weekend..I beleive it could be and dont quate me on this but either dysplasia or just abnormal cells, which are both a form of hpv, dysplacia can cause cervical cancer but thats why they do the biopsy to find out exactly why the pap came back abnormal...again i could be wrong so please dont quate me it could be something else but im sure its not life threatning to you or the baby...just call your dr first thing in the morning and have them explain it better to you....write down the info and do some searches online that will give you alot of info too..good luck...........Deanna > Hi Everyone, > > I got a disturbing call from my doctor on Saturday stating that my > results from my papsmear came back and I need to call right away. > When I got the message they were all ready closed. Guest guest
Hi, I don't post often, mainly lurk, but thought I would jump in here. I had an abnormal pap several years ago. I was at the university clinic since I did not have health insurance at the time. When it came back as abnormal, it was suggested I go to my " regular " GYN. It really had me worried, I have a maternal aunt that was dx with cervical cancer 20 years ago, so it runs in the family. (She is good- total hysterectomy and chemo and has not had any problems since). Anyway, I bit the bullet, paid 150 out of pocket to go to my aunts GYN and he did another pap that came back completely normal. He told me that with the old fashion smears, they literally smeared the sample on a glass slide, and sent it to the lab. When they do that the cells can clump together and look abnormal. Nowadays most GYNs use the Thin Prep system, the sample is put in a liquid solution so that the cells don't become clumped together. This may just be a lab mistake, unfortunately those happen all the time. But it could be something serious, but I'm really praying for you that it's not.
