Guest guest
Well this is wonderful, a bunch of people not having any problems over the holiday (and some people think I exaggerate!). As for challenging the diet, you certainly don't HAVE to. But if you want to, and you are using 1 capsule and your child is doing fine, I would think any think anytime would be okay. I " challenged " the diet the with the first capsule. I was one of those first parents before we developed better guidelines so I didn't know any better, lol. I said " Here's a Peptizyde and here's and ice cream sandwich. " My 7 and 9 year old didn't argue after being CF for 2 months. We had tried a protease product from the health food store for a week before that so it could have been helped by the fact their bodies were used to enzymes by now. That product was a dud as far as infractions went. The boys were fine from the first capsule. My only tidbit would be to use a known quantity of the food you want to challenge and watch for reactions for more than one day, like up to 3 at least, so you can judge how it is going. Best wishes for success. .
Guest guest
> I also just started the enzymes during this vacation and have not seen any > regression yet. My son is on the gfcf diet and I was wondering how long > after being on the enzymes do you challenge the gfcf diet? I challenged gfcf after about 3 weeks on enzymes. I use HNI enzymes, be sure you use enzymes which you can use for challenges. I started with just casein challenge. My son tolerates it okay with enzymes, but it is high phenol so I still have to watch the quantity I give him. http://home.pacbell.net/cscomp/phenol.htm After about 2 weeks, I challenged the gluten. My son regressed after about 10 days on gluten with enzymes. So he is still gf, but he does not have to be entirely cf, so I am very happy about that. I challenge other problem foods occasionally. Some he tolerates with enzymes, some not. So I would definitely recommend you challenge the foods one at a time. Dana
