I am 25 years old. I am 18 months post op. I have not had any

troubles at all. My starting weight was @ 295lbs. I have lost 135

lbs. I have a 3 year old son, I did not not have any troubles with

that pregnancy, it was easy, you could not even tell I ws pregant

until he drop @ 8 1/2 months.

Well on 1/9/04 I took a home pregnancy test, and it was positive. We

were pretty excited. Called Monday morning and made all my dr appt,

the rn at my dr office said I was about 8 weeks. I was a little

nervous to tell my family about it because they worry so much about

my health. Well I finally told my mom. I got the reaction I expected.

Not upset, but not real happy, very concern about me. I started

spotting, and went to the dr, they said a had a bladder infection.

they gave some medicine and 3 days of blood work to do to keep an eye

on the pregnancy hormones. Well this morning I woke up bleeding

almost like a full period, and cramping so bad. So I went to the ER,

and I had a miscarriage.

Has this happen to anyone else? I don't think its from the surgery, I

hope its not. Anyone have any advise??

I am so sorry you had a miscarraige. I too had a miscarraige in August last

year and it was not related to gastric bypass at all but we do believe my

hormones were off wack. I also had a Miscarraige in august 2001 and it was the

same

( that was before gastric bypass), both miscarraiges I had were with

pregnancies I had gotten pregnant the same month I came off birth control, so I

do

believe my hormones were off kilter and it was NOT gastic bypass related. I

stayed off the pills and so far this is a good pregnancy, I have made it to 12

1/2

weeks but I still worry and at sometimes I am scared, I guess after a MC you

will be until the last trimester. Good Luck to you trying again and I will pray

that all goes well the next time. Again I am sorry you lost this one.

I have read some articles that point to the idea if a persons B12

levels aren't normal that there appears to be a greater than average

risk of miscarriage. Miscarriage happens much more frequently than

people think, although this is no comfort when it happens to you.

If you click back through some of the posts within the past couple or

three months, you should see some messages about the link. (I didn't

save it since I am no considering another preg right now).

Hang in there, take your vitamins, get your labs checked, eat

nutritiously and try again in a couple of months!

I am so sorry to hear about youe news - How awful. I pray everytime I

go to the bathroom that I do not see spotting. The only other times I

have been pregnant in the 80's that is what happened to me. My heart

goes out to you. - Diane

- I too have PCOS and that was has caused my infertility and

miscarriages. I am so scared this time - not because WLS but because

of the PCOS. It is encouraging to know you are doing well this time

around. - Diane
