My son's was done on 9-21 and I too planned for a couple of terrible days and it

was not bad at all. The worst part was hanfing the baby off to the doctors.

Best of luck to you and your little one.

Can anyone tell me how their children reacted?

my daughter had her tenotomy done 8/13 when she was 8 months. i too

was nervous especially about the anesthesia part. but what made me

feel calm was when she was taken by the nurse she smiled at me and

looked happy. i think it would have been different if she would

have cried i too probably would have broken down. but it went by

rather quickly and she was very angry when she came out! of course

she had not eaten anything since the previous day and was screaming

when i got to her. so i held her and she nursed and went right to

sleep.

when she went back to the room she woke up and was happy! she had an

appetite let me tell you! so she nursed again and had some crackers

and played with her brother, nurses, family. she did really well

afterwards i think. we were told to give her motrin but she did not

need it. she was given a dose before she left the hospital and thats

all she took.

i wish it the best and hope this helps put you a little more at

ease!

Hi there, My son had his tenotomy done when he was 5 weeks old and my

husband and I were really worried about it but was fine.He wasn't any

fussier than having the casting changed each week.He cried but I brought a

bottle and fed him while the docotor preformed the tenotomy. It wasn't as bad as

I expected.Don't worry he'll be fine.

Hi,

Ava's first tenotomy was done at 6wks old under general anesethia and

she only needed 1 dose of tylenol after surgery. We did stay the

night and the nurses tried to give her more but I didn't feel she

needed it. She did just fine. Now after seeing Dr. Ponseti we found

out that they did a cord lengthing not a tenotomy. So it is just a

little set back. She is due to have a tenotomy the beginning of Dec.

with Dr. Ponseti. I am sure your son will do great. It truly affects

the parents more than the child.

Mine hardly reacted at all, but others have - it's purely personal depending on

the baby I think. Remember your son will pick up on your fears, so just wake

up tomorrow and say " IT's a good day to get new feet! " :) You all will be fine.
