Breakfast Ideas needed...

Hello everyone.

I need some breakfast ideas! I usually eat when I get to work at 8:30

am but these days I cannot wait that long. I am lazy in the morning and

cannot get out of bed, thus not giving myself enough time to eat. Twice

already this week I have had a ham & cheese croissant from Arby's for

breakfast because I was starving (no hash browns, at least!)! Any ideas

of what I could bring in the car or grab out the door that works for

you? Thanks in advance for any ideas. Before I was pregnant, I would

have one piece of peanutbutter toast and that was enough, now that isn't

even appetizing to me! I want food with substance now, haha!

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can offer.

P.S. When I have the croissant, I eat only the top of the croissant

(folding it in half) with the ham so that the bread isn't so filling. I

surprised myself yesterday and ate the whole thing! That is a first

since my surgery 3+ years ago. scary!

My favorite quick breakfasts are 1) string cheese and a couple of slices of

turkey...... 2) Yogurt. They even make drinkable and/or portable

" Gogurt " ....these do have a slight bit more sugar, but still great protein

levels and much

less fat than Arby's........ 3) The new Dr. Phil bars especially chocolate

toffee and chocolate peanut butter. Those things are AWESOME and you can get

them at Walmart!! They have high-protein and relatively low fat. Also, I like

most of the bars made by Designer Whey (walmart too). They are 100% whey,

which is the most digestable form of protein and low sugar, etc. Still, I don't

think they can touch the Dr. Phil's as far as taste. Gosh I wish they had

removed my tastebuds when they fixed the insides. LOL Sure would make this

whole diet thing MUCH easier.

I personally like Zone Bars. I keep a couple in my purse. The

fudge graham, peach, and apple cinnamon are really good and they are

low in sugar and high in protein. I think 14-16 grams.

The chocolate mint is good too.

They are quick and cheap at walmart. Definately better for you than

Arby's.

I will have to try these, thanks for the ideas. I went to Arby's

because I was desperate and starving-not my usual breakfast routine! I

want to eat healthy but it seems when I am looking for " quick " meals I

pick things that aren't the best choices (nutrition wise)! I am going

to try to plan better so that I have something and this looks like a

good option for me.

Thanks again Chrystal! Have a good day all.

Heres 2 ideas how about hard boiling some eggs the night before? I like

egg salad for breakfast, without toast but you could have it with a

slice of toast or bread if you need filling. I slice up 2 hard boiled

eggs, add a little mayo, salt, pepper and I am ready to go.....

You could also mix a protein drink the night before and leave it in the

fridge over night so its ready for you in the am to just shake and drink.

Ivy,

I've been struggling with breakfast too. I have been eating cereal

(usually Kashi Go-Lean -- more protein and fiber and less sugar -- or

Harmony, a cereal for women with extra vitamins), but I usually feel

a little yucky for about 15-20 minutes afterward, probably from the

sugar in the cereal/milk. It slows me down in the morning when I'm

getting ready to feel yucky like that, so I've been looking for other

ideas. Today I had a Nutri-grain frozen waffle with some peanut

butter. Not sure that's the best choice.

A while back, I found this mix called Heidi's Cottage Cheese

pancakes. You mix in 2 cups of cottage cheese, so it's got a lot of

protein. It makes an interesting pancake, less fluffy than regular

pancakes, but pretty good. I make a batch (about 6-8 pancakes), wrap

them individually, and freeze them. Then when I want one, I pop it in

the toaster oven. I have never been a syrup-on-pancakes person (I

know, weird), so I eat them dry, and they are easy to take in the car

and eat on the run. I bought some more mix and cottage cheese this

weekend and have been meaning to make them this week, but every night

I've been too tired. I think I'm going to chop up a few walnuts and

dried apricots to put in them. We'll see. Anyway, you can find the

mix either online or at some of the more organic/gourmet type grocery

stores, like Whole Foods (depending on where you live).

If all else fails, I sometimes get an Egg McMuffin at Mc's --

definitely has the protein, and I leave off one of the muffin halves.

Good luck.

Those cereals also make me sick. I figured it out -- I dont do well with soy

and those cereals have a lot of soy protein. It makes me sick. Not a good

thing.
