Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to let you know the is using the new bar and shoes created by Dr. Dobbs. It's WONDERFUL! can move his feet independently. The " shoes " which remind me of a simplified AFO are very easy to put on (even compared to the Markell's). There are four velcro latches and that's it. has not had any blisters, sores, etc. I believe that it's harder the blisters, etc. to form since the feet can move independently...just my belief crawls and pulls-up in the braces with no problems. He doesn't even seem to notice when we take them off or put them on. Hope these work good for your little one also. By the way, do you recall what Dr. Dobbs said about the stretching. We had the brace person talk to us about the stretching and how often to leave the brace off. I just want to make sure we are doing everything right. Thanks! > > That's exactly what Dr. Dobbs told us, the first few days do the > hour broken up so you can check for blisters/red marks/sores etc. > Then if everything looks good after a few days switch to doing the > hour at one time. Guest guest
We have the new bar and shoes, ready to start wearing them tomorrow. I think they will be much easier for Sammy to adjust to and hopefully his sores are healed enough now that they won't be bothered by the shoes. What Dr. Dobbs told me about exercises was mainly just the dorsiflexion, he said to work up to about 40 reps, and just do it whenever you have the shoes off. We've been doing 40 reps 5-6 times a day since he's been out of the shoes. We also have been doing the inversion and eversion stretches described in the booklet Dr. Dobbs office gave us. > > > > That's exactly what Dr. Dobbs told us, the first few days do the > > hour broken up so you can check for blisters/red marks/sores etc. > > Then if everything looks good after a few days switch to doing the > > hour at one time.
