Guest guest Posted March 12, 2003 Report Share Posted March 12, 2003 JODI, CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING IN THERE WHEN SHE COUGHS, MUCUS OR SOMETHING BUT IT DOESN'T COME UP OR SHE DOESN'T SPIT IT UP. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE OTHER DAY AT THE DOCTOR SHE HEARD HER COUGH AND SAID ONE TIME IT SOUNDED LIKE CROOP COUGH(BAD SPELLING). SHE ALMOST HAS TWO SOUNDING COUGHS ONE WITH A GURGLY, MUCUS SOUND AND THE OTHER WITH NOT WHICH IS THE ONE THE DOCTOR HEARD AND SAID THAT ABOUT. From what you are describing, it sounds like it is to me. She needs the meds to open up her airways, let them relax and then cough up that phlegm that is in there. Make sure she drinks a lot of liquids. That helps thin out the mucous. I would call the doctor and bring this up. We tried all different kinds of asthma medicines like pulmicourt and bricanyl. Nothing really helped. The doctor than wanted to try singulair even thou Mattias is youg. And Yes !! It was like a miracle. Ever since then Mattias is fine. He had colds and infection but mo more coughs like that !!! Singulair is a tablett you are supposed to melt in your mouth. BUt for Mattias I just mash i and put it in a little bit of water. He was hospitalized cause of it Once it starts (usually with a simple cold) we know that it is back. takes albuterol through a nebulizer machine (breathing machine) it blows fine mist of meds. Of course, when needed, we have the nebulizer, Advair and a few other things, but our use of those meds has been cut in more than half.
