Guest guest
I am doing a dance for joy for you in my chair! I am thrilled for you. Way to go Ava! fabegirls fabegirls@...> wrote: I just wanted to share some good news. My dh took Ava to see Dr. Ponseti and called me after the appt. She did NOT need the second tenotomy. Hooray!! When we were there in Sept. he felt she definitly would need another but it was to soon then. He said come back in Dec. and we'll do it then. Todays visit was great. He turned her feet in to R 60, L 50 they were 70-60. She has only been in the s for 6wks 23/7, he said we could go down to 21/7 but wants her to stand flat on them. She is only 6mnths. Thank God for the saucer. That is about the only thing that she can stand in. He said her heels are coming down and she is about 90% corrected but the key is to have her bearing weight in and out of shoes and keeping the shoes as tight as we have. She does get pressure sores across the top of her feet and they don't go away when the shoes are off for the hour but Dr. P said it was o.k. as long as the skin doesn't break. It hasn't. He also had Dr. Mercuendo (sp?) examin her as well an they agreed she is an exceptional case of Atypical CF. Her R is still very tight but he feels she will do good with the weight bearing. We go back in 3mnths. I have to tell you all I was expecting the worse. If anyone has any ideas about standing her up in the shoes other then when on my lap Please..Please...let me know of them. I am sure there is more from the visit but I can't think of it right now. Thanks for sharing:) KK Livi 01/22/03 Ava 05/27/04 Bilat Atypical CF s 21/

Guest guest
That's excellent news!!! I have a question about something you posted. You said something about pressure sores. What are those? My son's feet get really red and last night they almost looked a little purple. During the hour his shoes were off they definitely looked better, but should I still keep the shoes on as tight as I have been? He doesn't seem to mind, but his feet look really red, especially the ankles. > > I just wanted to share some good news. My dh took Ava to see Dr. > Ponseti and called me after the appt. Guest guest
Yes, they are from pinkish red to almost dark purplish in color almost like the start of a bruise. The purple color goes away but the redness doesn't. He said it was ok as long as the skin doesn't break. I don't recall if your in the Markells or s. If your in the Markells I would be careful that his feet are not slipping, causing them to rube against the ankle. Redness across the top of the foot is common because that is where the pressure is applied to keep the foot back and heel down. Hope it helps. KK > > > > I just wanted to share some good news.
