Guest guest
Interesting, I've never heard any of that. s. Re: Shoes vs. ? The shoes are designed to exert corrective pressure in the same places a cast would, particularly for the foot that has alot of cavus left after correction. The shoes are able to continue correction for a foot that was not able to be fully corrected by casts - this is something that the Markell shoes cannot do. Also, the shoes are designed in such a way that they will stay on a not-fully-corrected foot - also something a Markell shoe cannot do. They are alot more user and foot friendly with suede leather and 3 buckles - no laces! Angel > > > Thanks to the folks who responded on my velcro question. Guest guest
All along I have wondered about the shoes looking as if they don't tilt up at the toes enough. and Ponseti both say the 10% upward tilt is there but compard to wearing the Markell shoes, it sure doesn't look like it! 's are so much more flexible so what you're saying is true, when they crawl and stuff, they have a lot more room to move their feet in various positions. Also all along I have liked the 3 straps and buckles but right now I'm really having a hard time getting them tight enough; he's between holes and you would't think that 1/4 inch or so between holes would make much difference but it really does. If I punch another hole between them I'll weaken the leather because it's already worn pretty thin now. All that aside, I look at his feet and they are still as flexible as ever so I'm just going with that. s. Hi! One thing we have discovered with my son in the mitchells is the ability to bend his foot back when he crawls as well as standing on his toes. Neither of which helps to maintain correction or acheive the 90 degree angle. Our physical therapist after an indepth discussion with dr. ponseti took the mitchells and put a foam wedge on the bottom of his feet to make his toes stand slightly taller than his heels. This actually forces his heel down when he stands getting that nice 90 degree angle or better. It's helped tremendously in stretching his feet, which were becoming more and more stiff. We had kept the straps as tight as we could without causing pressure sores, the way the heels of the shoes were taller than the feet when flat on floor was doing some serious harm to my sons progress. Thankfully this pt realized and called dr. p. 10-09-03 atypical bl cf mitchells 23/
Guest guest
We just lengthened a few holes instead of putting one in between them. We took the one she was outgrowing and just slit it a tad. Then the buckle still works 'between holes' so to speak. Chris Re: Re: Shoes vs. ? Guest guest
Hey girl!! just getting caught up on yahoo and then I'll get caught up over here, but I read about cutting the slit, make sure it's in the next hole and not just lengthening the old one. That latter was the impression I got she was doing, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. as it will just go back to the original hole setting. o.k. gonna go finish reading all of them and I will chat later. Have fun with brian, we had a fabulous date and I still am chuckling over your email. We actually went to the site, they changed the first sentence, so my husband sent them an email saying he was so excited to see they had corrected it! hehehe! I'll chat more in a minute. Guest guest
First we slit the old one a bit so it is easier to get buckled as her foot grows. It makes for a smaller slit and doesn't stress the integrity of the strap as much. Re: Re: Shoes vs. ?
