Guest guest
Colin, Hayden and I all had one last year and didn't get sick. Their Daddy forgot to go and came down with a horrible case of the flu. We are definitely all getting one this year! Guest guest
Bo, Your son is 3 correct? My son is 3 1/2 years old and has had the flu shot at least the last 2 years. And my husband and I get it too, just to make sure we don't bring the flu home either. I remember asking Dr. H if it was OK for my son and she said it was fine to do. Guest guest
I started getting flu shots at the age of eleven and the pneumonia vaccine at the age of thirteen. Both were incredibly helpful to me. I don't know how safe they are for young children, but I didn't have adverse affects from either one. ~Hillary 21, RSS
Guest guest
Hi Bo, Where in New England do you live? i live in Hollis, New Hampshire. There are others in Mass, Vt, Conn etc. As for flu shots, YES ! get them. Our ped. endo not only recommmended it but insisted on it for our son who has RSS. I hope this helps. Guest guest
I've done the flu shots with Adam when he was 8 and 9 years old (we missed last year, when he was 10 due to my injured back we couldn't get out to the clinic). He had no adverse effects and didn't get any sicker or not as sick than usual. I've never had the flu myself, just colds.........but I figure better safe than sorry. And now we are being advised here in Toronto to get the flu shot due to SARS. It will NOT protect you from SARS but it will help the medical people to distinguish between flu and SARS symptoms better if we have the vaccine. Just my personal experience. Debby Flu shots for SGA/RSS kids? good or bad? > I am thinking about getting my son a flu shot this year. > > started daycare last fall and was sick a lot all through the > past winter (it was a nasty long winter here in New England!). Guest guest
COllin got his first flue shot last year and will be getting it again this year. He had no adverse reaction other than his arm being a bit sore. He got it last year because of us bringing home our preeemie twins...they were given the RSV shots every month and their neo. said that everyone in the house needed flu shots because they sent them home at 4 lbs. This year he'll be getting it because with getting him to barely eat we don't need him throwing up!! > I've done the flu shots with Adam when he was 8 and 9 years old (we missed > last year, when he was 10 due to my injured back we couldn't get out to the > clinic). > He had no adverse effects and didn't get any sicker or not as sick than > usual. Guest guest
have you looked into the second year of the shots for RSV? We were able to get them because of the low weight and being on a ng tube during the winter months. We didn't want to loose any weight gains. I think we were like the only one at the peds office that got it two years in a row. The T.V. commerials say until age 2 they are at risk.
