FARMWORKER HEALTH PROJECT MANAGER

General Statement

The Northwest Regional Primary Care Association, based in Seattle, WA, is an

association of community and migrant health centers in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon

and Washington. The Farmworker Health Project Manager implements projects,

tracks and analyzes policies, and disseminates information on behalf of

farmworkers and migrant health centers. The Project Manager is also the main

contact person for the Western Farmworker Stream Network ( " Stream Team " ), a

coalition of organizations working to meet the needs of farmworkers and the

agencies serving them in the western states.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Implement programs and activities in support of migrant/seasonal

farmworkers and migrant health centers, including development of resources

for new programs.

2. Monitor and analyze legislation, policies, industry trends and other

developments that affect migrant health centers and migrant/seasonal

farmworkers.

3. Serve as primary liaison with and coordinate logistics for the Stream

Team, including developing agendas and coordinating communication and

information-sharing.

4. Work with the Stream Team to prepare and disseminate comparative analyses

of policies, trends, legislation and health care financing affecting migrant

and seasonal farmworkers for the states in the Western Stream.

5. As liaison for the Stream Team, maintain a network of relationships with

federal funders, national partners, other health care organizations, etc.

6. Maintain external partnerships that support activities by NWRPCA and the

Stream Team on behalf of migrant/seasonal farmworkers and migrant health

centers.

7. Implement project work plans and monitor budgets.

8. Provide staff support to NWRPCA's Ad Hoc Farmworker Affairs Committee.

9. Develop content, resources and partnerships for the Western Migrant

Stream Forum annual farmworker health conference.

10. Provide support for NWRPCA's three yearly conferences.

11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree.

2. Experience in policy analysis, legislative relations or related field.

3. Demonstrated ability to implement projects and see them through to

completion.

4. Experience in working with coalitions and/or a background in community

organizing.

5. Experience working with community-based nonprofit organizations serving

diverse populations or communities. Knowledge, skill and experience working

with diverse populations, especially monolingual Latino Spanish-speaking

populations, is strongly preferred.

6. Knowledge of the impact of culture on health beliefs, health seeking

behaviors, and the ability to incorporate this knowledge into program and

service delivery models is strongly preferred. Must demonstrate an awareness

of, a value for, and the inclusion of cultural competence in task

implementation.

7. Must be flexible, self-motivated, able to prioritize multiple tasks, able

to carry a heavy workload, and committed to social justice.

8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven track

record of producing high-quality written materials. Spanish-English written

and verbal proficiency.

9. Ability to work as a team member and work effectively with diverse

people.

10. Knowledge and experience in community based health delivery systems

strongly preferred.

11. Physical ability to stoop, kneel, bend, use a computer and perform light

lifting.

12. Ability to travel.
