Guest guest
Hi, I felt the same way about a month or more ago. It turned out that my son figured out on his own how to crawl, sit-up, pull himself up and actually walk slightly (while holding on of course) ALL WITH THE DBB ON. I was so impatient because I felt that he was getting behind developmentally and then all of a sudden he figured it all out. Anyway, they just need time to adjust and figure out how to maneuver that thing. Babies are extremely resilient. Guest guest
Rita, 7 to 8 months isn't entirely unusual. Some babies crawl earlier than others. If your girl is meeting all her other mile stones with out issues, and if your doctor thinks she is otherwise OK (except club feet) then I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it yet. I bet others on here can give you other ideas to think about too. Babies can learn to crawl wearing the DBB. How much longer will she be wearing them for 24 hours a day? Can she sit up on her own? Can she roll over with the bar on? If she can do those things she'll figure out how to crawl too. Maybe put something she really likes out there on the floor, close enough to temp but too far to reach. good luck! s. shoes and crawling Hi all, I am a mother of a 7 and 1/2 month baby girl. Guest guest
Hi Rita, We just addressed this issue with Dr. Ponseti on our last visit. He said it was not unusual for the babies to actually walk first and not crawl. Our pediatrician wanted to start early intervention for Ava because at her 6mnth check up she was not rolling over but could manage to sit right up from laying flat on her back. (go figure)I am glad to say she rolled over in her FAB just the other day she is now 6 1/2 mnths. She doesn't really crawl but spins and scoots on her belly. Now when Ava is on the floor I have been bending her legs so she is on her knees, hoping she will start " rocking " . Dr. Ponseti also said it's good to have the babies stand up as much as possible even if it's on your lap with the shoes on to help strengthen the muscles. Don't be scared or nervous, easier said than done I know. Just try and give her as much floor time as you can and I am sure she will figure out her own way of getting around. My girlfriend has a baby non-CF and he is almost 9 months, he doesn't crawl yet, he rolls to get where he wants to go then he'll pull himself up onto the furniture. Very funny to see. Guest guest
My son, , will be 8 months old on the 21st. He can roll over in the bar , but he is neither crawling or sitting up well by himself. He can sit up straight well, but often topples over sideways after just a few minutes and can't get back up into sitting position by himself. He also has sagittal synostosis (he just had his surgery to correct this in Oct) -- so he hasn't had much tummy time. In the past month he has really begun to catch up quickly, but it is still pretty concerning. I spoke to his pediatrician about the sitting issue, but she said it's perfectly normal up to 9 months. Sometimes I wonder if Gabe will just skip them altogether because he is starting to try to pull up and can stand lock-legged for quite some time. He won't do it out of the shoes though-- Try to stand up up without them on and he just crumples... rita221068 rita221068@...> wrote: Hi all, I am a mother of a 7 and 1/2 month baby girl. Guest guest
My first daughter, who didn't have CF, didn't crawl until she was 8 months old. She was just a lazy stinker! I wouldn't worry too much, as long as she's hitting other milestones & your ped isn't worried. , mommy of: Guinevere, on, Ava 8/4/04 right CF DBB 23/7 > > Hi all, > > I am a mother of a 7 and 1/2 month baby girl.
