Guest guest
That's what the ortho dr said who was on call. He asked if I had changed anything and I said that I hadn't, but soon after I realized that it wasn't true. I had used this mole skin like product called duoderm to put on the pressure sore. He could have had a reaction to the adhesive on that. I just bought some corn pads and I'm going to try them when he wakes up. > > > > I have a son with bilateral clubfeet. Guest guest
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTIAN!!!!! EXACTLY!!!! I took him to the Pediatrician and they told me it was an allergic reaction. He needed Benadryl and everything went back to normal. Call you Pediatrician to see if that is an option for you if it happens again. We've been in the straight last shoes since November 19th and everything has gone pretty well...until now. On Wednesday night, the night before we're supposed to leave to go to my parents for 2 weeks, he develops the beginnings of a pressure sore. My husband brought him to me for a bath and I see this red circle on his foot and basically lost it. My ortho dr said to leave his shoes off for a day or so to let it heal so that it didn't go any further. I left them off from Wednesday night until Friday morning. On Friday morning it looked better so I put his shoes on with duoderm on the pressure sore. All day Friday it looked good, but Saturday afternoon came around and it started to look bad again so I took the shoes off again. Two hours later he was smiling in his bouncy seat and suddenly he started to cry. The crying turned into screaming and he was unconsoleable. Needless to say, I was freaking out. I took his socks off and from the knees down on both legs, he was extremely red to his toes and they were very, very hot. Now I'm panicking. I called the ortho on call (not a Ponseti dr) and he thought that was unusual. He finally calmed down because I nursed him and the legs went back to normal. When I was looking at his legs last night after this all happened I noticed something strange. There were 4-5 red blood-like freckles on the lower part of one leg and 2 on the other leg. They almost looked like broken blood vessels. Has anyone had anything like this happen? The shoes had been off for 2 hours so it wasn't that...at least I don't think it was. Please help me understand this. I'm away from home and I'm very stressed about it. Plus, my son has not been in his shoes very much in the last 3 days and that is driving me crazy. Guest guest
OMG!!! That makes me so happy to hear that. I've been completely stressing about it. Was Christian crying out of control when it happened? I haven't given him any benedryl yet, but I did give him tylenol when it happened. I'm going to call me ped dr right now and see what they say. > THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTIAN!!!!! EXACTLY!!!! Guest guest
Yes, I am sorry it took so long for me to answer. I had to work today. Anyway, yes, he was crying like crazy when it happened. Did you have the opportunity to call the doctor? If so, did they recommend the Benedryl too? Guest guest
I called my ped and they didn't seem to think it had anything to do with the adhesive from the stuff I put on his foot. They didn't say anything about benedryl since the coloring had already been gone since later Saturday night after it happened. I'm still confused about the whole situation, but right now I'm just happy everything looks normal. Did they ever figure out what Christian had an allergic reaction to? > > THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTIAN!!!!! EXACTLY!!!!
