Guest guest
Okay, so 's a mover - even with her bar on. But we will be recast for a few weeks. How will she get around with casted frog legs? I imagine they figure out how to do anything but is this doable? LOL Chris
Guest guest
Awww.I wonder if it is doable with casts like that.If not I guess she would start rolling again right? She might be pretty mad (at those casts) for awhile though! Guest guest
She will do just fine. We are there with you!! jason isn't walking yet, but pulling up will be a thing of the past for the next few weeks. and yay, we get to go back to the lovely thump thump thump up and down the hallway! haha! Can't say I've missed that too much. Although even with the dang bar on, he's swinging his legs up and down in his seat hitting first the bottom of the chair and the swinging them all the way up and hitting the tray of his chair, so now it's bang bang, bang banb...especially when I choose not to look at him. man when did they get so bossy??? Guest guest
and , I think you'll find that and can get around just fine in the casts. Jonah was about to start crawling(in the FAB) when he had his tenotomies done. He started really crawling in those huge heavy clonky casts--I was so proud, even though I also felt sort of sorry for him. It looked like he was dragging a couple of coffee cans aound or something. But this guy's got the biggest abs I've ever seen on a baby. Also, he could pull to stand in the casts, no problem. I made sure he had socks with grippers on over them so they wouldn't be so slippy. Good luck! Travel safely! Naomi The Family Naomi Hannah(02/21/01) Jonah(06/20/03, bilateral clubfoot, FAB 14/7) chris@...> wrote: Okay, so 's a mover - even with her bar on. I wondered the same thing when my 10 month-old crawler went into casts. He could crawl the minute we put him down on the floor. The one thing that took a little longer to figure out was how to go from a crawling position to sitting, but within 24 hours he had that all figured out too. Now he zips in those casts and since he had his tenotomy and his feet are flat he's standing in the casts! and 11/10/03 bilateral clubfeet

Guest guest
We were worried about the same thing when Devlin got her tenotomy and new casts on Halloween. Three hours later she was crawling just fine- --it took her a little bit of frustration and complaining, but then...off she went. She just had to learn a few new techniques, especially with the sit->crawl or crawl->sit. I wish we were as adaptable as babies are! She actually started standing much more with the casts on---so much that we thought she'd end up going backwards in development when they came off (it didn't happen that way). I guess it was just time for her to start standing all the time, and she was going to do it whether or not she had casts. The thing I had to do for her right away was put thick padded socks on bacause she's so strong now she'd bang the casts so hard on our wood floors we were sure she'd break them. So, what I found was SO AWESOME for her---slippers from Old Navy that were like little stuffed animals (dogs) that were very, very thick and fluffy. They had a narrow, tight ankle so she couldn't pull them off. They had traction-rubbery bottoms. She ended up loving them so much that I had to wait until she was asleep to take them off and wash them (white slippers, crawling baby, and 100+ year old dusty house---not a good combination). I tried to find the slippers on Old Navy's website to post for you, but the closest I could find was these: http://www.oldnavy.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=500&wpid=262579 . That'll help you get the idea, but these were cute little dogs with a face and floppy ears and eveything else Devlin loves in a stuffed animal. Maybe your local store will have them. If you decide to give it a try, I suggest you take in to find something because I know I would have bought the wrong size had Devlin not been there for me to try them on. I think babies are amazing at keeping up with their " development schedule " regardless of what we do to them (i.e., casts, DBB, etc.). I'm sure will amaze you and somehow this will become an unexpected benefit to her development---like stronger arms or something! Good luck! > Okay, so 's a mover - even with her bar on. Guest guest
, THANKS so much! I'll look in to those slippers when we get home. We're off in just a few minutes and headed to Iowa. In a peaceful snowfall. OH joy. LOL Chris Re: Recasting and Crawling We were worried about the same thing when Devlin got her tenotomy and new casts on Halloween.
