Guest guest
I had emailed you a while back - I live in MI as well, and my son Zach was born with c/f in 2002. At that time, when I contacted Dr. Ponseti he said that no doctors in MI had " proven " themselves as using the method as it's FULLY intended. He said several docs from MI had come to work with him but none " had their hearts in it " . I don't recall anybody from our list using a Dr. from MI - successfully. I do think Holly ( and Holly) - who doesn't post much had started with Dr. Craig - but switched to Dr. Ponseti (who succesfully treated her daughter) after be recommended for surgery. If I were you, I would contact Dr. Ponseti and see what his thoughts are. Good luck! Hey, you're due right around the time I'm do with my second. Are you delivering at Royal Oak Beaumont? If so, perhaps we'll see eachother there - wouldn't that be a hoot? Guest guest
Holly, My name is Carolyn and my husband and I live in Michigan in the Detroit area. Our son was born on November 17, 2002 with bilateral clubfoot and was treated at Children's Hospital in Detroit with the Ponseti Method. He is now 2 and is doing great. He was corrected with 5 casts, no tentomy and we are in the DBB currently for 12 hours a day. He started walking at 10 months. Our doctor followed the protocol exactly. My husband is a PT and questioned everything. His reasoning for not being on the list, he doesn't have the time to do all the documentation that is needed to be on the list and he sees a lot of patients as it is. Our pediatrician was not to sure about us using this method and has since been so impressed and patient she has born with clubfoot is referred to Dr. Mendenlow at Children's. Sorry this is long, but I just wanted to let you know that we are out here and in Michigan with great success. Guest guest
Carolyn, That's great news - I wish your doc would get his name on the list, I've encountered several people who live in this area, who are searching for a Ponseti Doc and only come to dead ends. Although I do have some problems with Dr. Ponseti's list anyway, as it tends to be misleading - so many of the people on the list (you would think you could trust as Ponseti certified) but aren't following the protocol entirely. Anyway, your post will hopefully help the orginal poster (can't think of their name) who was searching for a MI doc to treat their upcoming bundle of joy!
